Though some of you may recognize me from one of the many other art forums floating around out there in cyber space, this is my first time posting here at Dhab's opus, Sijun. I figured I would mark the occasion with a small sacrifice...
Bring on the wolves.

You arent the same person that did that Manson elf pic are you? If so, pick another person to paint...dont want to fill your portfolio with one person.
If not, forget what I just said. Anyway, good likeness of the guy. Cool picture. |

Nice picture - especially the colours. It'll be my wallpaper for the next couple of days.
I like your site logo, too - the imp head. |

Thanks for the comments peeps. In answer to your questions it's not a self portrait OR a picture of Marylin Manson, (Marylin Manson as an elf? Gimme a little credit! ) It's, in actuality, a character design for a comic I'm in the initial stages of creating.
And double thanks to all of you who visited imphead.com. Glad you liked it, come back often!

Weirdowe- I'm not contesting the fact that to some it may look like Marylin Manson, I was merely trying to make assurances that I had not intended on the outset to draw Marylin Manson. In fact, the attempt was to design a character for a story set in an alternative, Steam Punk, Victorian setting. The fact that it looks like Manson, or more to the point that people liken it to Manson speaks more of the viewer than my art.
Egerie- I have too, but like I mentioned above, I'm more enamoured with the classic Victorian gothic rather than the over-done, over-hyped, played-out, neo-gothic imagery... Or are they the same thing? hmmmmmm.... As per the mask? I intended it as a porcelin mask but that's just MY interpretation. I'm one of those wacky artists that likes it when people to come to their own conclusions about a piece of artwork. I believe it's more about making a emotional connection with a viewer through a piece of art rather than getting all the detail across.
And once again thanks all for the comments. I'm always intrigued by how people see my artwork. I feel, be they good, bad or indifferent, other people's opinions, interpretations and comments are a vital part of the artistic proccess and are no less valid than the my own.

Very cool Brian, you can't go wrong with an evil man in sepia- and I found your site even more entertaining. You'll be happy to know that I too spend days developing elaborate characters and when I have to come up with a background- well I've tried to bribe other artists to do them for me. |
