This was one of my first photomanips. The color is a straight scan of a black and white neg that I took in the corner of a TINY studio apartment. I had painted the wall black, (I even got my full damage deposit back.) She's sitting on a blue fleece blanket. She also had a zipper on her pants, but I found that distracting, so I took it out.
For those of you that would like to take nude photos for reference it's not as hard as you think. The key is to have them fall in love with your work first, and then hint that you might like to take their picture. (It doesn't always have to be nude.) Once they're comfortable with you, and they will be if you're respectful and proffessional. They will often suggest the nude shoot.

I actually don't ever have that problem. Maybe its the feel of my work but my models are always all too willing to pose however I want them to. *Knock on wood*. ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

Balistic~ Great stuff as usual. Keep em coming.
KINg STINg~ You did that with a mouse?! Holly shiznizle! That's even more incredible. Maybe you shouldn't get a tablet. Your stuff would be way too good. It'll make other artists like me jealous.
JCameron~ Very nice photo manip. Beautiful model too. Great stuff.
Fallen~ I haven't had any problems getting models yet either. But I got lucky, one of the models that poses nude for me is the wife of a close friend. The other 2 girls are her friends that she found for me. So needless to say, I've been very lucky so far.
You should throw another piece down here Fallen. You've got tons of great stuff.
Thanx again all.

Damn! You really nailed the lighting in that piece fleabrain.
It almost looks like she's floating above the ground on that little pad. Really cool stuff. Very unique. I love your style.
Anyway...
Thanks for the contribution.

I'm hoping some of the other sijun artists will add something of their own.
So.......Please add a pin-up of your own to this thread.
Here's one of my pin-ups, it's a little old but what the hell.

Great job !

Hey I remember a large pin-up topic here on forum! As for your picture, one of the airbrush problems - lack of texturing. No it's not bad, but you must be hella skillful to avoid 'plastic' feeling. Real faces have a texture, bump, color variations, some hair etc. so you need to include these things somehow if you wanna realistic look of course.
Also when painting faces put a lot of attention for the eyes. I found that a couple of pixels can greatly change face expression! But hey I must be talking about obvious things...
Here is pict I did some time ago:

I really like this, but I am partial to Enya...

Fallen, as always I am a big fan of yours. Great site and Awesome Work !!!
I Would love to have some 300 / 600 dpi versions to print and frame in my house.
Next time I am in Toronto, the drinks are on me...
(and if the models want to come...)

Ok, here's a lumber-jill, don't show her the captain's log 'cause she might get a bit choppy...
Edit: sorry, too sleepy, forgot to say how much I love threads like this! Great job all you guys!

If only I could move out in to the woods...
Very Nice, the only thing that is getting me is her left elbow. The proportions are fine, but it kinda knocks my eyes off of her lovely curves. If I was photographing her I would have her move her arm so that the elbow would be hiden by the torso, but so that you still see the hand on the belt. |

Ok, we've got a lot of great pin-ups here. But, I know there's more artists here that have something to add. So, I'm bumping this bad boy one last time to see if I might be able to squeeze a couple more pieces from you guys.
I hope so.
Take it easy,

I thought I'd add another piece of my own.
Seeing as how it's getting close to Halloween and all......
People have told me it's not my best work but I really like it. I'm kind of partial to the subject though. (My fiancee Amy)

Well, this is the closest thing to a pinup I've done in ages...a self portrait from some time last year:
...and because people have talked so much about tracing lately, one of the ref. photos I used--similar, not identical: http://www.gorblimey.com/rubbish/socar2.jpg ...anyway, I think everyone's seen that picture before. I didn't exactly try to hide it, although I felt that such a close copy was a bit cheesy.
I love to look at good pinups...especially yours, Fallen...but they're not really my forte.
EDIT - Oh, yeah, and I just about die every time I see that Batman picture. I saved it on my hard drive when it was first posted, and I look at it every time I need a good laugh.

I was flipping through some old surfing magazines looking for references and I came across a company who make airbrushed stickers of women for surfboards which reminded me of your post.
The guy that does the airbrushing has a similar art style to yours. I looked him up and he had a website. http://www.carloscartagena.com
There are many people on Sijun doing this type of art but it seems like this guy has been doing it for years.
Just thought it would be of some interest. |
