Glad people like them! had no idea what people would think. "what? more scribbles?" If I had not been doing all those forum sketches over the last year, I could not have done these at all.

Tarball, My site will be up, it is how I eat, so I will find a way to keep it up.

Bandwidth is ~1GB/day. I have had 3 other arrangements with different people regarding free hosting, and none seem to work out. Bandwidth costs money, no way around that. I was hosting my larger files on a machine at a university, but the machine was up and down constantly.

Strangely enough, my cable modem seems to be working well. I will keep your kind offer, though.

Sumaleth- Yes, I like them better than FF too. The bigger the project, the more neurotic the process, and the more life is bred out of things. It is amazing when really good work comes out of committee. Ads? Ahhh! For what? Mutual funds, kitty litter and incontinence products. I can see it now I am wondering, though, the traffic is not that high, but the size of the files makes the bandwidth deceptively large.

Vesuvius, I have heard that console=suckage. I don't know. Hope not. I did not include the heat distortion. I did paint it in, and then took it out. Cheap trick, lens flare town. As Bond being big, OMG you are so right. How embarrassing! Flying a little too fast, I was.

Anthony J In a few I used a 3-d program to lay out a grid and maybe a few blocks. I like being able to design the shapes that way. But I have in my mind a good idea of what I am after, so the model is seldom more than 3-4 blocks or cylinders. Accurate perspective and scale (like Mr. bond in computer room) are a must for this kind of work

The originals are from 2000 to 5000 pix wide.

Yes, I start with as close to the average tone as I can.

I am not sure of the meaning of interpretive versus technical. I did put myself through school doing architectural renderings. That is pretty technical.

Quasar, Try glazing with a pressure sensitive pen, or if you have a mouse, painting at low opacity. This can quickly build up a nice complexity of color.

I worked with a fellow named Jay Riddle on this, and he and I would discuss a few ideas, but then he would say "do whatever you want." So your description is somewhat accurate. "We need to design how Bond gets to the alpine base, probably a jumpjet pad built on the side of the mountain. It should have some guard towers and a path going into the mountain from the pad." Bout like that. Some like the office, were no more instructed than "we need to see what the bad guys office looks like"

Gix- haha! exactly my thought. I really wonder if you will be able to see any influence of these in the game. If anyone can get screenshots...

Vesuvius/dave- by a new website do you mean one that does not look like it was laid out by drunken monkeys? Probably not. I am thinking of just putting the images in a folder on FTP with a downloadable index file. How that for NU-design?

The problem is bandwidth. When I put up those FF things about 5-10 gigs a day was going out. Of course, I can make the images half the size.

As I said, the cable modem is as good a solution as any at this point, but I wonder when the cable people are going to burst in through the ceiling with guns and gasmasks.

Docfunkalot, I generally set the brush to opacity mapped to pressure, size constant.

Shaded- you are getting it. Texture is OK, but it has to be controlled and of low enough contrast that it does not interfere wit the reading of form. See the fish on the platform? Hehe

JayceeL thanks, but don't quit! Play golf, you will find renewed interest in indoor activities. Some images I did in an evening, some went through changes. As far as reference, I did not use any, as far as I think you are asking. I did find a photo of a harrier, but not from that angle. So I use it for form and construction ref, but not to copy shapes of the photograph.

Craig talk to these people they have dedicated servers for about 100.00/mo with 50 gigs of transfer.. if your hitting 1gig/day then that should be plenty of bandwidth with a little growth even ..i know 100/mo is kinda step but like you said this is how people see your work for the most part ..

anyway, one crit i have, it's about the GOOD MORNING!!! picture ("where the evil is conceived" - the one you posted at lumental as a sample). there's some rays in the lower right corner, and i can't really fit them together with the rays that come through the ceiling... makes it look like the sun is approximately 100 meters from the base. still, the atmosphere in those pics is Un Be Lievable. Thanks for sharing!

No bandwidth limit? That seems REALLY unbelievable. I'm guessing that if this really is true that they aren't basing this on the assumption that most of their customers will not be seeing anything near 1gb/day of data transfer.

Mr. Mullins, first of all I just wanted to say I'm a huge fan and love your style. Now, I'm sure I'm not qualified to critique your work, but something struck me as odd in your pic. Am I wrong or is that Harrier way too big? With no people around or anything recognizeable near the landing pad, it's hard to get an idea of the scale of the jet to it's surroundings. Can you see what I'm saying or do I need to take a closer look.

Just slap me upside my head if I'm wrong.

Yep, they're a hosting company as well. They've actually won a lot of awards. I consider them the best there is, but people certainly have differing opinions when it comes to something like this. One of their best qualities is that EXTRAORDINARY customer care. If you e-mail them with a problem, it'll be fixed within minutes and they'll have e-mailed you back.
