I haven't done texture work in a while, and I realized that I've never done any sort of grungy/sci-fi/dirty stuff before. I figured I would take a stab at it tonight, and lemme tell you... grunge is addicting!

One or two photos were used, but you'd never recognize them... they been totally hacked up and changed all over the place. Most of this is hand painted.

Oh and I lied... it's really just the same crate at 3 different stages. *evil grin*

Sorry it's not a purdy illustration

The last one is very nice, good detail and color variation. I would suggest the rendered model approach to get it to look that much more realistic. On such a simple model it'd only take 1 minutes to do.

those arent boxes!! those are cubes!! THESE are boxes

hope you like-em this is to celebrate the revival of my 3D card, it died on me a while back, but ends up that it was just a crappy driver

I just noticed the biohazard box has a couple of UVW crap-ups (the latches on the corners, have some dumb mapping on their sides) I've fixed it but I dont feel like re-rendering, cus it's not that big a deal,

and if you want the models I'd be happy to send over in whatever format I can.

Tepox - Hehe, thanks

Halogenic - "Textures in the LIGHTNING!" Thanks

Haha, that's cool shahar2k! I don't know 3D at all, I even had to find a cube to put these on. *giggles*

These would most likely be used in game by the level designer, but I still really dig your boxes. Feel free to e-mail them to me and I think it's cool that you actually took the time to throw that together! ^_^

sure, I'll send them off as .3ds files, probably best compatibility, this was a fun little exercise, second time I've modeled from a texture directly, it's interesting cus you are allready starting with a product, plus I almost never texture my own models, cus I'm not good enough, so this way I get a textured model!

Oh hey... anyway you could export that as an MD3? If not it's ok, just curious

And feel free to use those textures for your own projects if you like, just make sure you give me proper credit and all =)

nice stuff!! best textures Ive seen on here in a long while...

beware of being too monochromatic....when making textures it is sometimes best to exaggerate the "color variation" a bit..maybe 15 percent...because when they are lit the colors get pushed down a bit too much by the lighting program and it can tend to take the life out of them...

try varying the colors in any given shape of value...if that makes sense...push your color range...warms..neutrals..and cools...any shape of value will have a spectrum of color as light moves across it...computer light often tends to dull down this effect.

keep up all the good work

Jezebel:
Nice job on getting some rich colors in those textures. They all look very convincing.

Cool scene you whipped up with Jezebel's textures. Saw your website, top notch work! Great stuff.

nVidia - Hehehe... wow, that's so cool to see someone else make something with the textures. It's very flattering ^_^ And the scene looks cool!

Farwalker - Thank you =)

Everyone here is bloating my ego too much. *grin* I'm pretty proud of how these turned out. Can't wait to try more
