With the Enigma of Women thread touching everyone's soft spots etc. I thought we could share experiences that made us stronger, made us think twice, made us change or made life a little more meaningful.

Not too long ago, in a sports class that I was taking to fulfill graduation requirements there was a hulaboo that definitely made me think twice. The class had 18 students in it... and a scruffy bunch they were. As one of those annoying people who took all advanced placement classes and was applying to prestigeous colleges, a friend of mine and I were quite the snobs around these people. Some were simply a little dim, others just products of unfortunate backgrounds.

As many of you know, America has this huge race problem. I don't understand it; but then I'm fairly foriegn here... in any case, a lot of my story revolves around the only black kid in the class. He was sweet (a little annoying at times, but not nearly as obnoxious as I had been to some of the people there). He was a senior like most of us, and never really pissed anyone off.

One day while we were setting up the badminton nets, Wey (this funny, kinda uppity guy from Taiwan) starts getting all up against the black kid. They were about to get in a fight when the black kid storms out of the gym, smashing a glass window on his way out.

Apparently, Wey had accused him of stealing $500 from his wallet as well as his brand new Nikes or whatever. Ryan (the accused) was like, whatever man. He took it personally that Wey had accused him because of his race (being the only black kid).

Subsequently, Ryan got suspended for smashing the window in his anger and restraint from lashing out at Wey. Wey didn't get into any trouble... he never got his money back (probably since it wasn't Ryan who ripped him off).

I just thought it was unfair that Ryan got in trouble for someone obviously unfairly accusing him and who wanted to have it out right then and there. All I could think of is what if that had been me. I'd feel so violated. I wish the US could get past the most retarded barrier that I think any nation has...

*meow* /me waves timidly after being back from vacation.

Did ya feel the vibes coming from Amsterdam, Jussi? I sent them off mad-crazy! Heh. Anyway, I'm tan and my mailbox is flooded. I think the US is severely problem-infested. Couldn't comment on my Finnish relatives though. Hey, I found out there's a place called Espoo in Finland. Weird. Is it cool? I bought salt that came from there. Ok, I'm rambling and trying hard to stay away from unpacking stuff. ttys.

Blah. There's also a town called   in Finland. It's neighbouring Faust's stronholdcity. Guess who used to live there. They don't manufacture mobilephones there, but some rubber and tires though they do.
