i haven't posted in ages, so here's something i did this weekend. it's both photoshop and painter combined.

(and a bit earlier version(progress for better or worse?): http://www.saunalahti.fi/~jannep1/workish/letkuseta2.JPG)

I like this, especially the head. It looks just so damn solid. I wish I could do heads like that one. Or anything else for that matter

The pose looks a bit artificial though, probably because of the position of his right arm, and I'd like a bit more definition on the legs.

[edit]Thinking about it again, maybe you were going for a somewhat awkward pose to create a certain mood. Is the astronaut artificial or machine - controlled ? [/edit]

Looks neat to me. but I think it really needs some more saturated colors here and there. And maybe you should darken some areas a little more.

Here is my suggestion:

I'm not so sure is it any "better". What do you think?

EDIT: I just realized that my version sucks I overdid those "saturated colors". now It looks like a gay parade. heh.

Nice pic. I really like your painting style. The right arm and hand looks specially nice painted.

I have to agree with horstenpeter I think the pose could be better. You should try and give some more attention to the legs they dont look as finished as the rest and you loose the shape of the left leg a bit.

Don't see you aroung here too often -- the pic is neat, as i said earlier - the head still lacks something i think ?

love and envy that style

gosh this place moves fast. sorry for brining this up from the void of the second page

thanks for the input guys!

horstenpeter: yes, the pose is artificial on purpose, but whether it works or not, i don't know. perhaps it should be even more so to make my point clear.

tepox: yeah, more saturation in some places would do good i'm sure. thanks for the repaint, maybe bit overdone but it gets the point(and i don't mean gayparade) across very well

jayceeL: true, leg is getting bit lost in there. otherwise i kinda like the fuzziness of the legs.

t4fF: would you like to elaborate a little why? is it the more painterly feel or something else?

klaivu: should be more active. dunno about the head, compared to the earlier version i took a completely different approach. he's lot younger now... perhaps the earlier version would have been better if just done with more detail. yep.

(um, yeah. i actually did the cubes too. that's what sparked me to think about values again. if you want see them go here: http://www.saunalahti.fi/~jannep1/workish/owncubes3renderedB.jpg
comments on them are, of course, most welcome)

I initially thought the pose was a little wierd, until I realized hesis an Astronaut (or whats left of one), which means he could be in space, which means he could be on a low gravity planet, which means he could flail his arms around in any which direction and it would look fine.

Maybe if you were to make it more clear he were in space.

And I like the newer version much better.

It's Fidel and his evil, Communist CASTRONAUTS!

Nice job.
