I hope that I didn't scare too many people away ha ! Well here's my attempt at doing a quick self portrait using a magnified mirror, and a disgusted face.
Still doin realism...I'm working avidly on life drawing at my school (sheridan college, Oakville, Ontario) so that I can better my skills...and maybe one day produce one character to post on sijun.com
thats my goal in life ha ! Have fun critiquing and making fun of me
I'm sure theres something wrong with the portrait, but to be honest holding that kind of face at such a weird angle using a magnified mirror is a pain !!

I like it... Pretty good for a 30 minute exercise. Hard to tell how close it is without seeing what you saw in the mirror but hey...you get that.
It looks a tiny bit flat around the cheeks and chin area. Are you going to leave it as an exercise of finish it off?

you call that a tough face to hold? you should see what i made myself do for my self portrait assignment. too bad it turned out cruddy :[
i think it's generally pretty good. i dont think you should have given yourself so little time- it's like cutting the learning process in half. for the hell of it, i think you could have embellished the lighting a little- made it more dramatic to emphasize form- especially around the eyes. they kind of look like turtle eyes with those creases underneith. do some more and post 'em in this thread :] |

Nicely done! Self-portraits are usually so hard to do first time. |

Well I think those turtle eyese have to be wrinkled up because of the face I had...I wrinkled my face, so it would be a bit more interesting to draw.
I'll work on it though, next time I do one of these !
thanks Wigin ! See ya at school ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
