"A helpless fruit is taken prisoner by an incessant drone of subconscious mind numbing pablum, slowly degenerating the few remaining brain functions used for praying to an unhearing spiritual deity to bestow upon him a pair of limbs with which to reach the nearby instruments of blissful silence."
I am interested to see your interpretations of what this is about. Thanks! |

I think this work deserves a few comments at least. Errr, I think you might be loosing a few people with your particular chosen subject which is why no one has replied yet. The work itself is quite good in places, I am interested to know the tools and techniques that you used. The radio for instance is wonderful....was it made from scratch? Drawn? Rendered? Scanned? I'm not quite sure, but it looks very good. The detail on your fabrics is very good too.
If I were to look at this in a critical way, it would mainly be in your composition. You obviously want to tell a story here, I think you should give it a little more thought. For example: If the pear is desperate to get away from the radio's mindless broadcast then it would be logical that the pear would be standing as FAR away from it as possible, on the other side of the room in a corner OR closer to the objects of its desire on the table. Would you agree?
btw, I also quite like the leaf on the pear's head. |

Everything was hand drawn in Photoshop. With a mouse I might add - at least the pear itself was. I also used filters to achieve the round carpet and the woodgrain of the chair. Oh wait, the radio tower is a pencil sketch, otherwise it's all Photoshop.
Yes, it is true that he wants to get as far away as possible from the radio broadcast, which is why he is praying for a pair of limbs! (the image and the description\caption go together) He's sitting there helpless, up against the wall, unable to move. Hence his expression. It's mainly supposed to be a humorous narrative. A metaphorical representation about how I felt while at work.
Although, I will wait and see if anyone ventures a guess as to what is represented by the image shown in the frame and what specially is the menance Mr. Sad Pear is being subjected to!
Thanks for your comments Tiger Eaten, I appreciate it! |

is that line the title for the picture?
it reminds me of a Dali title, like "Velazquez Painting the Infanta Margarita with the Lights and Shadows of His Own Glory." I know a lot of his works cus my dad is an incredible Dali fan, owns a lot of books, and well, his paintings are heavily Dali influenced |

Ha, I like it! Poor fella really seems helpless
what about shadows shaping room - maybe there could be some more accent to bne made on shadows of floor and walls and corner, my first impression was- theyre all floating in the air. but this may be positive thing as well. it up to you. |

The text underneath the picture is the offical descriptive text of the scene. It is my own small imitation of the descriptions that Robt. Williams gives to his images.
Krauze: Yeah, the "room" isn't well defined. It is supposed to look like a photogrpahic backdrop. The relative lack of texture in the background is perhaps why the perspective distortion applied to the floor isn't as obvious as it could be. I started the image off by drawing a leaf and a pear, so all the other elements came into mind after the fact, so the perspective is a bit off. However, since it is metaphorical I can overlook these details. I have a new one planned involving a banana and I'm encountering the same, flat perspective problem - it's a tricky thing to get right.
Has anyone had any experience with the perspective grids in the latest version of Painter by chance?
Here's a detail of the radio. I was pretty proud of this little thing after I'd done it.
