Beside the dripping-black shadows of a hazy back alley, under the flickering light of a mangled streetlamp, Alexis Dark stands patiently waiting for the arrival of the private eye under her hire.

Yeah, I know the cig doesn't look like one. I was going for some sort of futuristic noir at first where the cigarette might not look like the kind we have now, but that idea kind of faded and I'm left with a woman holding a smoking... pen. Oh well.

Nice, Abe! Looks a bit like Anne Robinson from "The Weakest Link". Love black and white works.

That's awesome, man. The leather jacket looks so real and her face is perfect! Funky hair-do too.

Yeah, what would cigarettes be like in the future? In the comic Transmetropolitan, people smoke anyway because anti-cancer genetic traits were introduced decades ago.

hey,

it's really nice. only three things stand out to me. relevance is really subjective. it's very well done so please don't take this as fault finding.

the transition between the top of the hair and the background is really sharp. i think there should be a softness when it comes to the silhouette of something like hair.

is one collar turned up and one turned down on purpose? to give a nice silhouette while not cover the face? the up one is straight while the other is curled.

the focus on the face and hand seems sharper than the jacket. the folds are really nice but the relative focus seems isolated. the texture of the jacket could be brought out too. not easy but depends on what you are going for.

good work!

Anne Robinson? Gahh. Heh, that was SOO very much NOT my intension. But I can see what you mean, sort of.
As for the focus problems... yeah, the hair contrasted over the blackness really does need to be softened. Thanks for pointing that out. As for the Jacket being less focused than the skin, well thats probably because I really have no idea what makes up the texture of black leather.
The flaps were intentionally made at different positions, possibly because that happens to me all the time when I wear something with flaps, but it probably would look better if they were the same.
Perhaps I should figure out a way to do bricks or something so I can give it a real backdrop. We shall see...

Very nice abe, for a moment I though the face might've been real. The shape and some of the shadows gave it a good impression. Ear kinda looks strange, I think thats because it's too light in the lower half. Rest is of course nice, the intensity of whites for the leather jacket make it a little unrealistic but I still know it's supposed to be leather

If Anne Robinson was supposed to be born as an eye looker this would be her

Wow... this is a HUGE improvement from your previous work. Congratulations, man! You've progressed in leaps and bounds.

My only critique (and I'm knit-picking) would be to play up the values a bit more. Make your shadows darker, and your highlights a bit brighter. As it stands, it seems to be pretty much composed of midtones. Still though, you captured the mood wonderfully.

Again, great stuff!!

Dude, That is SWEET!!! Great Overall Feel, but the smoking Pen needs to go, make it a hand rolled with a bright cherry on the end.

Normally I don't post unless I have a solid critique to make. However, this is SO deserving of a good ego-stroking that you have made me break this rule. That's a DAMN fine picture. Damn fine.
