Going back to my roots: pencils. It may be sorta largish. Sorry.
...Would love to hear any crits/comments.

Very nice pic. Reminds me on the old fantasy books I read. I like your style. |

I do believe those black strokes serve to create a well finished embossed look. Nicely done, Siftland. |

Afgun: Old fantasy books?...awesome. Thanks.
mk: Well I didn't plan on them being randomized. They exist only on the side which is farthest from the light source.
But however, and tell me if you noticed this, the bottom half of the pic has a bit more contrast than the top...due to the way it was scanned (you can find the scanline too, if you look). So down around the the horse's legs, there some of lost detail in the mid-tones...So that may make it look like I unjustifiably outlined certain places darker. Should I rescan it, or do you have no idea what I'm talking about?
Shaded: Thanks! You're such a good supporter...Am I missing your threads, or have you not had any recently?
notic: Wow. I guess it's true my work is getting a lot brighter, because in the past my work was consistantly very dark. So now it's looking like it could be in a children's book? Cool...Thank you. |

COOL! I am SO seeing this in color. Are you planning on coloring this? Is it for a children's book or a fantasy work? I think this would be a shame if you didn't develop the piece further. Very nice style you have. ;} |

Merekat: hmmmm...I don't have any color ideas right now. Perhaps one will come to me later. But I have a curse: if I do a developed drawing then try to color/finish it, the sketch always looks better than the finished. So typically, I don't fully shade the pencil drawing if I plan on adding color. This is my not-so-clever means of making work where the finished looks better than the drawing...hehe.
When I add color, my hatching goes away (well not completely) too. I just don't feel as comfortable with it as I do with pencil. Well anyway, that's the curse...anybody think they can help me out of it?
I appreciate your comments as well!
SPike.CoM: Thanks for the praise! Just don't ask me to not cross-hatch...because I can't do much else...hehe. |

Yeah man! Like all the other posts before me, this is great! Someone must make a story to go along with this man, its such a great peice! I love the whole mixing of land dwelling/seadwelling animals you got there, hehe. And the lil pitchfork thing is great too, like King Tritan(Titan?) Well done, Well done indeed...
Only crit i have is maybe makign the fron of the scepter/pitchfork thing a bit longer.. looks kind of awekward for him to be holding it like that, with the head part on the end so much =D
Keep up the good work! |

Very interesting theme The parts where the lines got really dark were distracting. His left elbow is too sharp looking when the rest of his arm has a roundish feel. I think you should try to color it. |
