[updated it... put some texture on those lips ]

I scanned in something from my sketchbook a while ago and I've been playing around with it since then. I think I'm done working on it... it's nothing too exciting but I thought I'd post it anyway

I was playing around with some color changes and tweaked it to this, I kinda like the warmth here...

[edit: removed the pic... don't like the colors any more. *grin*]

Is this a self portrait?
Nice work either way.

I like this very much !

There's a bit of asymmetry in the head which bothers me, but that's about it. Good work

I really like this, might i ask what kind of media did you use to make it? the rough parts make it look like it's Nupastel or some form of conte, but the softer parts plus all the highlights on the hair ane eyes, look like they were added in with something else

Thanks Malachi. No it's not a self portrait... just a random gal =)

Trans - Thank you! Yeah, I've never been too great at drawing faces. They end up all wonky :P

shahar - The initial sketch was just doodled with a mechanical pencil, then I scanned it in and did the rest in Photoshop

Ah, man I wish I could use photoshop in that level of skill, I just never got used to the wacom, it's still too artificial compared to a chunk of charcoal or a brush and watercolor in your hands.... dunno that's just me

I know what you mean, I don't consider digital art to be a substitute for traditional at all. It just feels better to work with real materials to me... plus I always get a hard copy of my work

Haha I said somewhere before that I'd look for your stuff....

Its good its good...

But her neck bothers me for some reason. Can't quite put my finger on it though. I think its the angle of the neck on the left side of image. But there you go with my 2 cents.

BiGJoN - Thanks, appreciate the crit. I never quite finished the neck so that might be part of the problem. She's actually turned at a slight angle but I'm not sure if you can tell by the way I cropped the image.

Shiro_tengu - Wow... what a compliment. Thank you!

Ok, here we go: I couldn't resist but to edit the picture, sorry 'bout that - I know the woman in my picture doesn't look too original, but still felt like trying to "fix" the things that caught my eye.

Hope I didn't offend anyone.

Darn, put } instead of ]

Your work is always a treat, Jezebel. ;} I don't know how you do your soft and wonderful style, but it's great! Honestly, how much of that is sketch and how much is digital? If you sketch with that level of detail and clarity of line, my hat goes off to you, dear lady. I have such troubles getting my lines that clean, and I've been trying to be neat for most of my artistic life!

Got any more? ;}

I really don't think it needed to be "fixed" the original is awesome already. The softness you captured is wonderful.

Marvel - Thanks for taking the time to do a paintover. Although some things may look more attractive in your picture... I kind of like the character that the original has in the way that she's not perfect.

Merekat - It's always a treat to hear that my work is a treat ^_^ As for how much is digital, almost the whole thing. The initial sketch is probably about 1 inch tall and it's literally a scribbly mess... so you can put your hat back on. *grin*

ReSistanZ - Thanks Res

MrLuisDiaz - I'm glad you like the softness, many people have told me to sharpen it up. But I don't wanna damnit! I made it soft on purpose, glad you like ^_^

Admire the soft-blue tint and featherness touch of strokes throughout the illustration, especially on the eyebrows and hair leading towards the ends.

Marvel at the beauty in the eyes, except I see a sad soul. [ what mood were you in when you did this ? ]The lips seem wanting to say something, but due to the deep hurt I see in the eyes they are silenced.

I think everyone else has made tha comments I was intending to make. So I leave you with this Jezebel.

"Imperfections . . .
That is what makes this design perfect."
