This is AWSOME!!! I like everything about it....but as you said crits for the building are welcome.

There is one thing that doesnt match up with the building that I see in the picture....It sorta doesnt sit right with the rest of the image. It looks sorta flat. I think its do to not enough contrast in the darker parts....

If you look at the forground area and you see the area that is the darkest(just below his left hand)...its a lot darker than the darkest area of the inside of the building...also its more white gray colored when the lighting on the people is more of a brown tone. I know that you dont want to put too much focus on the building...

but the way it is now looks like it belongs in a different lighted scene. Sorta how people composite something on film with a blue screen and the darks dont match up...you know what I am saying?

Anyway though, this is one of the better ones I have seen on Sijun. I love the colors you used in the sky. Good work!!!

very original and very well executed

I think sometimes good ideas are better than technique. You have brought the idea so well. i guess the buildings and other things are minor factors; this pic has a lot of impact and that s the most important

Definitly one of the more original pieces seen here at Sijun. I like it a lot.

The detail of the building is simple looking in contrast to all the mases 'people'. The microphones are a little dark as well.

Nice job man

This is a superb political piece.

A lot of political style artists I've seen ignore perspective or distort it as part of their style. So in a way, I think the building looks good the way it is.

I think maybe the placards and signs that the crowds are holding up shouldn't have actually words on them though. It's not offensive or anything - hell no! I just think people will look at it longer to figure out what it's meant to be if there isn't any obvious clues that it's in a certain country.

incredible, man. just great. i think the lack of right contrust in the BG is in place cuz of the distance from the viewer and the buildings look good. i think that the sleave could use more folds but it's just a minor point. the pic is ... WOW.

Crits on the building are especially welcome. Drawing that crowd in 3000 * 2000 made me wish i'd listened to mr. mullins from the day one at the sijun forums. Too many details where they aren't needed. aArgh asdf etc.
I think i got the idea for this while listening to nin - pilgrimage .. anyway - c&c are wanted ! thanks

Took the words right outa my mouth.

Great stuff klaivu. I like some of your other pieces better, (owl mortar being my favorite.) but this is still technically really good. I have issues with the building but they've already been stated.

Must say those inks are outstanding. My favorite pieces in this thread I think.

Take it easy,

the big evil bird looks great, the tones really add to it.

The dogs are really sweet too, i hope the photo reference was only used for the head ...not the dog body and clothes

Wow amazing piece...

I think the veins on big bird's hands are a little off, and the rest of which has already been stated, but other than that, its wonderful.

Great Work.

Love it! shapes are so solid... It just works! Also the color variations on the sky are kewl. Maybe the perspective of the building is somehow odd...

The piece is great...I can't help but look at it again each time I come to the board and see the title.

Your site is cool too...but it needs more of your new stuff. Update it!...hehe.

so many replies ..

Robert Ashley - Thankee. Yeah, the building is sort of flat.
Toast - Thanks Though a good idea is worthless if you can't execute it well enough to get the idea across.
Shijima - I think that's my skewed color profile .. they're all as dark to me .. this is the one thing i hate about digital art, the image is rarely the same on every monitor.
Firefry, silber, notic : thank you

Highfive - you are right. The text on the placards sort of simplify the idea - i think i'll take it off. thanks.
topeira, Jacks True Self, Subliminate, Malachi Maloney :
StrangeFate : Photoref was used for the two lowermost doggies on page 2.
AfterShoxX : I have no clue on veins .. how are they supposed to go ?
Gordillo :
-Tepox- : Yeah, perspective never was my fort. Should study that stuff more.
Mime - Thanks. I was sort of frustrated with being stuck with penguins and pigs - both kind of malicious and bitter characters - and tried to make up some new ones of different nature to go with the animal theme. But these ended up as sort of dark too .. blah.
Siftland : yeaerdgh. well, i'm setting up a sort of a webshop- i have a couple of printable works, this included, and will update my site once the lazy incompetent bastard ( no offense if you're reading this tuukka ), who plays with php finally gets his work done.
fgfx : =|:
yeah, well. the egoboost is what i show my stuff around for. ( yes, i'm an egocentric asshole )

"The veins on big bird's hands are a little off"

Oh forgive me, I didn't explain myself well...

What I meant to say was that the color of the veins seemed somehow odd to me.

I can't help but say it again, Great Piece!
