Hi again everyone! I posted this in the WIP board but its actually a completed piece. Just wanted to see what you guys think of it?
To celebrate Halloween, I'd like to show you another one of my favorite sculptures.
This sculpture is of Boris Karloff as Frankenstein's Monster. The size is about 10 inches tall. He is sculpted out of Super Sculpey. I sculpted this last year for a model company whom recently went out of buisness and sadly are no longer making the model.
I spent about 3 months on it and it was my first sculpture at trying to sculpt a likeness. I have been told I pretty much nailed it.
I hope you guys enjoy him!

Its great
I love sclupture, this year i have sculpture lessons, 8 hours every 2 week, and its really great, i will post pics of the things i do if i dont forget to take my digicam next week (cause we sculpt the thing, the teacher give us a grade and we destroy it and put back the clay in the boxes)
I'm wondering about the colors in your sclupture, is it the color of the clay, or you painted it after ?
and what kind of clay is that super sculpey ? whats the price and how long does it take to dry, does it need to be put ina oven ? |

Stunning! Admittedly, I never watched the old frankenstein movies, but this one looks so good it can only be true to the monster.
no crits, just wow! ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

I use Super Sculpey clay and I mix Sculpey III colors in the clay. Super Sculpey comes translucent and its hard to really see detail. By mixing in color Sculpey III you can see detail a whole lot better.

Super Sculpey is a ploymer clay that is awesome for sculpting small things like figures, animals, busts which is what my Frankenstein is and other projects of the like. It allows you to get super detail. Its not greasy or messy like oil based clay. Thats one reason I love it.
Super sculpey gets hard when you bake it. You can leave it sit for weeks or even a month if you keep it in a cool dry place but it is highly reccomended to use it as soon as you can so it keeps its softness. It will start drying out on you.
You can buy it in 1 lb blocks for $10.00 at most craft stores or online at www.dickblick.com. I like to buy it locally so I can feel the clay and get the softest block possible. Sometimes if a block sits in the store too long it will get hard.
If you have any other questions just fire away.
Hope that helps!

Thanks all. Silber, The company that commisioned the bust actually sold it for awhile and then do to internal problems in the company the fell under. Its too bad because I was lined up to do busts of Dracula, Wolfman, The Mummy, Hunchback of Notredam etc. ![](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) |
