Here's my crit:
First of all, spend some time drawing people, studying anatomy and figuring out what a real person looks like. This will help you a lot, because right now this figure appears to have no figure knowledge in it. The body is not comprised of 'the arms' and 'the legs' and 'the torso' etc... it is a complex machine with a lot of parts, and once you understand how to reneder those parts, people won't be distracted by misunderstood anatomy (you can never stress life drawing enough).
Your color choices are a little bit incongruent. The dark red background doesn't work very well with the faded greens and browns of the figure. It also looks like you used the darken/lighten options to color him. Now that you've gotten that out of your system never use them again! These options, dodge/burn lighten/darken are a horible crutch that will lead you to distruction. It makes for really unprofessional looking images and unless it's handled VERY well gives the impression that it was painted by some kid in junior high who got a hold of Photoshop (which we all were at some point, but it's good to give a head start to those that are just beginning).
Try using the paintbrush (NOT the airbrush) and create light using a brighter color. Select all of the colors you use, no more effects. This way you will learn twice as fast, and when you go to use color dodge (or lighten, darken, whatever..)againm, understand HOW to use and what looks natural.
You may want to clean your drawings up a bit too before working on them. It's one thing to paint over rough sketches, it's another to be letting the sketch muddy the image, or create the annoying little white flecks on the line (very distracting).
Hope some of this helps

-matt
