Hi. Looking good, but you should focus on getting a good base to work from, before you start painting it.
Looking at the b/w sketch, it looks much better than the painted one. To become better at painting realistically, paint from life. Also, check in on spooge's new class (the one with the cubes).
Reading up on color theory and studying the old masters (jason manley is the one to watch for advice here) will get you far as well.
Concerning the actual drawing. Double check the anatomy. The thighs look like they are originating from the same point on the hips.
The hips themselves look flat, very flat. This is partly due to the leather hanging down, which should curve around the body and not look like a piece of plate.
The feet are almost impossible to place, because of the unnatural stance (+the hip&thigh thing). Which foot is the right and which is the left?
's all for now. |

Great points digi! Thanks for the feedback. I can definitely see where you're coming from.

It seems like the biggest problem with the coloredversion (right now i like the BW one better too) is taht the lighting is off when compared to the atmosphere. Its all dark around and it looks like the sun is shining on him. Also some of the rock look nice, but again, out of place from the purple dark back ground. |
