All I can say is "WOW". You have some beautiful pieces that you have put some time into and demonstrate a range of styles. It's great to see and I love the 'edge' that you've put onto the Batman images. Some of the colour pictures could be improved in the colouring style but that is probably here nor there.

lets see...I think Herotry is a little blurry. Some of the blurred places i think would do better if they were clear.

Thanks guys! The 'herotry' as I've named it for now, is an experiment. The 'Wave' was a photo i dropped in to get a quick result ( this being the concept stage ) because the character will change quite a lot, as he is just one, amongst a lot of characters that take a journey in the world i'm developing.

This image ( and the reason i'm showing it now...) is just to test the water, and get some feedback on wether or not i'm heading in the right direction.

Thank you again, your response has helped me more than you know.

I'm in the process of developing a sight so I can post sketches alone. When I have done this, I will post the concepts...I hope you'll give me some feedback when they appear.

Thanks jcFIG! I'm trying to get someone to develop a site for me. I've been working as a freelance artist for eight years, and have a 'Large..!' portfolio that I would like to share. I should have it sorted in the next couple of months.

I can't disagree with people here, the picture is simply superb. But what I'd like to see there is a bit more sharpness - currently the image looks like it's a bit off-focus.

Thanks, I appreciate all the comments. The 'herotry' is an experiment for the comic I'm doing. If you go back to my link, you will find 'herotry' in his original state...minus the 'photoshop tinkerins'.

The Indian-Conan drawings are 'pencil' worked over and over again with a '6h' pencil to take away the grain, to give a more realistic look....more so on the Indian.

Although the image is quite impressive, there's something that's not convincing me about his right arm. It seems out of perspective.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But for that shot, I used reference of a sprinter ( Linford Christie ) so believe it or not, it's accurate.

But, yeah...I always thought that as well.

paul- did the indian and conan sketches start out with HB or some darker pencil which you then retraced over and over with 6H? I haven't been able to get dark anything with 6H so I was just wondering, both those renders are awesome, and herotry looks excellent.

Assuming its photoshop did use you use burn/dodge or a transparent brush with separate colors using the swatches? Do you u blur/smudge? Thanks, and awesome and amazing work. U should work at id or something. if there were audio u would understand my appreciation of your work.

Lev. johnC : The pencil technique, is a tricky one to write about...but here goes!

The trouble i found, using a 2H, is the fact that you can't make subtle marks on the papar ( by the way, I use 'Bristol board', in case you're not familiar with it, it's a thin card, with a brilliant white,smooth surface. ) I don;t like a paper that has grain when i'm going for realism. If the drawing needs texture...you draw it in.

So, It's almost as if the 2B pencil is used for the 'under-drawing' to give it some weight i.e. the the darker, deeper shadows and tone. Then starting very lightly, i work with a '6H' then It's a case of working-in the soft pencil into the bristol board. I beleive the trick, to getting realistic effects is to start very lightly and work your way up, because I apply the pencil quite hard and it would be impossible to erase. With that technique, you apply the pencil 'that hard!'...that after you are finished, you could rub your finger over the drawing and no lead would come off.

Very difficult to explain, but their you are...have fun!

docfuncalot : When I scan the pencil work into Photoshop, I turn it into a 'Multiply' layer, so i can 'Airbrush' onto lots of layers underneath. The original drawing is quite 'finished', so the grain still shows over the colour ( i don;t like normal airbrush techniques, as they have a tendancy to make it look too smooth/brand-new looking and flat!)
After all the airbrushing is done ( by the way, that's all i use, apart from other work where i've scanned in texture) i create an 'Adjustment' layer so I can adjust the whole look-and make it come together, using 'Curves'...and that's it.

I hope all of that makes sense.
