howdy.
i have a problem. all the faces i draw look really really bad when i mirror them. the right side is always narrower and cramped up, the eyes don't line up and the jawline is different. but i can never spot these things unless i mirror the image.
either my pictures are weird and only look good one way, or i can't see the mistakes i'm making.
so in the examples below, do the mirrored pics on the right look heaps worse than the originals on the left? they're all deformed anyway from manga influence anyway.
i have some ideas on what's causing this, like handedness. it's not my eyes, had them checked, and drew with one eye, and even drew upside down.

You angle to the right, like I do. One of your guesses was correct, it's a matter of handedness. To correct this, try drawing with your whole arm, intead of pivoting with the lower palm of your hand. Or, just start with a strong geometric base (sphere with the jawline, centerline down the middle, I'm sure you know that already) |

I personally wouldn't worry too much about it. Faces in reality are asymetrical so just run with it. Nice drawings by the way. |

i think your drawings are not so bad mirrored, specially the 2nd one.
sometimes can be your eyes.. your eyes get used to the original form and when you see the drawing in another way it seems so odd.
everytime I finish something I keep the drawing away from my eyes for a while and then I see it again and the weird things appear.. Sorry I'm out of the original topic but just something I wanted to say.. And maybe this is all bullshit and only works for me, heh... |

Woah, I tried to mirror some of my cartoon faces and I realized I do the same thing! Thats pretty annoying, not a big deal though. Thanks for the suggestion on how to remedy this, Isric...
Oh, and I like your drawings. The first ones my favorite
