Hello,
long time no pic from me. Well, here goes. I tried to do a picture that tells a story or at least helps to tell a story of some kind... or maybe creates a story in your head. Crits & comments are very welcome as always.

Great piece overall!
I dig the Painter style and your rendering.
But the proportions of the dude are a bit weird.
I am one of those people that are not overly nitpicking when it comes to proportions, but a bit more thought on the figure would go well with your excellent rendering. It seems to me that the legs would be too long for the upper body and the lower arm seems a tad long too.
Is the arm totally mechanical except for the hand or is just armor? If the arm is still in there, the shoulder seems to be placed too far towards the back and too far down... But it's hard to determine where the body is placed inside the metal casing/armor. It just looks a bit "off" to me.
(Also the arms seems to be able to rotate only on one axis... which would be very unhandy)
Do I make sense? If not just ignore me
Cheers

nice pic.
I don't know if this was intentional or not, but the entire picture is flat, yet the creature has more depth.
If this wasn't intentional then I would just suggest adding more depth and perspective to the entire thing.
Very nice overall. |

Very visually appealing!! The colours are veyr soothing
Only one thing though .. I keep getting a feeling that the creature will fall off onto it's left side if it tries to climb up the stairs? Maybe it's just me ^^;; |

Its Robinson Crusoe! do I win anything?
BTW I really like the pic.. except it feels a bit flat... not enough perspective. |

Yo Rhomb,
Very cool painting man! I'm glad to see you posting again, I love the old guys sad expression, and it looks like the creature has come to comfort him.
Crit wise maybe Its a little flat.. I had a go at a go at a repaint, tring to show more definitive lightsource. Dunno if you'll prefer it but I hope something in there helps..

This is really nice - I like that ball-like thing above the guys throne, and his face. |

That is a NICE image! Reminds me of some of the stuff I did a while back, and I REALLY makes me want to do it again. Beautiful handle of the medium my friend |

Nice improvments Cos, not that this wasn't a cool piece from the start. Because it was and is a cool piece regardless.
Good job to the both of you, but don't let me steal your fire Rhomb, you did a great job from the start.
Take it easy,

Thanks for stopping by everybody.
Ko: Thankyou for the anatomy pointers, they make sense. It seems a bit off to me too now. Didn't come to think the shoulder thing, heh. Should have given the design and overall planning a little more thought. it was an old sketch I just started painting over and let go.
Gordillo: Thanks!
Vgta: I wasn't intentionally making it to look flat but yes, it definately is a little. (the straight on sideview isn't actually helping). Thanks for pointing that out.
'Nectarine-: Robinson? Who?
Cyriss: Thanks for the feedback. It's not just you. It's very hard to climb up those flat cardboard stairs.
rustriva: Thankyou! The ball-like thing was supposed to be his helmet...
Awetopsy: Hush! Now you blew his cover. I know... it's flat. Thanks. =)
Cos: Hi there! I really dig your overpaint man. The enhanced lighting adds a lot more depth to the pic. Although, I like to keep a little more color variation in there. Anyway, thankyou very much for taking time to do this.
Isric: Thanks! Do you mean the more painterly stuff you did earlier this year..? I think your current stuff is great but I really liked some of the experiments you did with the Painter back then. You painted among other things a dark character (was it from the LOTR?) with a rough barklike face. That was one of my favourites. Do you know what piece I'm talking about?
cybertoker2001: Thx!
