Hey everyone...I just threw this together, it took about ten minutes, it was just to try to accurately depict the depths of the face, and comments or critiques welcome. If you have a quick study you'd like to share, feel free to post it up here.

oh yeah, that's a hat, not hair, if you weren't sure
Edit: Yikes, wrong forum, sorry about that, dunno if I can move it...my apologies

Are you happy with this? Do you feel it's "finished work"? Honestly?
This is definetley NOT an attempt to bash you or anything but this section has gotten alot of these posts lately. Think of how much good constructive criticism you could have gotten if you had made a real piece containing atleast a good idea. No more "i did this in 5 minutes".
We're all sick of it.
Let's not make this thread grow shall we. |

well, I guess you might have missed the apology in the initial post, so I guess I'll be redundant and apologize again...I tried to move it as soon as I noticed the mistake. And no, there is nothing wrong with trying to work quickly, there have been a ton of posts in this forum that have been quick studies, there's nothing wrong with them, they DO help develop skills, but I have a hard time seeing mistakes in my work, much like many other artists, so I put it up for comments and critiques...I tried to move it, but only moderators can, so thus its placement in the finished gallery.

Wow. I accept your apology, first off. It's an understandable mistake, and you shouldn't be run out of town on a rail for it.
As far as the picture goes, I like it. I really like the eyes and the general idea of the picture, simple as it is. My main problem is with the lips. They look a bit overdone for a quick study. You might say it could have been quicker and more studious if they were more subtle.
That's my three cents.

Aaahhh...I'm so cruel.
Sorry if you took it personally. That was not intended. It was more meant to state an example so others could read. Ah well.
About studying faces, you should start using references and study them. It really helps to get to know shapes on the human head. |
