i just wanted to share some art work i did a few years ago when i was trying to familiarize myself with oil paints.
i like the likeness, but the color was all screwy because i didn't know rembrandt book reproductions always look like crap. btw, his paintings like all paintings are meant to be seen in person.


this was one of my earlier attempts at painting with oils, you could see the my ignorance with rembrandts technique. (more like nerdrum)



this last one is just a cute picture i found on my harddrive from when i was pretty young, 14? probably after the professional came out.

the first one is too messy and he doesn't look like Rembrandt
second pic is better but i somehow don't like the colours...damn i wish my first attempts were that good...
oh and a pretty good sketch for a 14 year old

It looks like you knew what you were after the second you picked up oils. I had no idea WHAT I was doing when I first painted in oils at 14. I still don't know what I'm doing. . ..
