Hi again. I think I like this most so far of the other two I've seen (the borg and the lady in the armor). It's more exciting to look at and there's more movement, not just a woman in the middle of the page. I love the colors and the way the fire leaks out of the borders. sweet =)
but whatever. all your work is very skillfully handled. heh heh heh I'll leave you alone now =) |

ok I take that back I'm not leaving you alone yet. -_-;;;
I'm not a professional or anything but maybe to make this have a bit MORE action in it, even though you already rendered the head, if the jaw was open really wide like the monster was REALLY yelling out that fire, or if the claws were kinda tensed up and the knuckles were, like, pertruding from the skin because it's one pissed off dragon, or if the eyes were wider like it couldn't control it's immense anger... hehe as it is it seems a little like uh... animatronic movie monster... ok you hate me now !!! >_< |

You have a piece of quality work here. The dragon is tight, but it does look very relaxed, alsmost stoned. Kind of like it's belching out fire between bong hits.
Anyways....
It's still good work no matter how one interprets it.
Take it easy,

All the work here is good. One way or another. Death Dealer has now added another piece of finely crafted work to the rather large pile

Too close to what, meatsack? The only similarity I see to any existing work is to Michael Hague's depiction of Smaug from 'The Hobbit'...maybe I'm missing something, though.
I think it has a good 'feel' to it, myself, like something out of a fairytale book.
No real critiques from me...I'm rather under the weather and sleepy.... Nice flames, though, and burning castle.

he's talking about the burning castle in the background. If you look the Soulblighter peice on Craig's site, you'll see what he means. The two backgrounds a lot alike. I don't think it's downright copywrite violation though. The only thing that looks curiously similar are the archer loops at the top of the walls. Other than that, they're just two pics that portay castle burning at night with roughly the same color scheme. |

well i think it looks quite good. the lay out is great.
looking at craig's pic and then at death dealer's i can see they have a similar feel. the warm glowing fire and some of the other colours and tones, but its not the same castle, so i dont get why he should have to remove it. |

i like it so far. nice layout. only crits are i think the dragon should look a bit angier and his eyes dont seem to be on the castle. also, his body doesnt look quite finished, the head has detail but the rest of the body is just blocks of color to me.
other than that very nice piece. |

First of all thanks for all the good feedback.
Second of all to worthless meat sack, I absolutely admire your work and always have. I don't in anyway want to rip you off. if you want me to change it i will.
Give me some suggestions, and i will be happy to take them into consideration. and that goes for everyone else.
When i finish the piece you will notice a big difference from with my work and crages in the work. |

Well In Meat Sacks' post its the two images spliced togather, and while the perspective matches, the castle is not the same. I'm not taking sides just pointing out that Craig put the two images together. I think some might miss that fact and start throwing fire with a false assumption that its the exact same castle.
Craigs is here

the colours and values are very similar. I doubt it would have been done without using Craigs Pic as a referance. it was the very first thing that came into my mind when I saw the pic
"....isn't that........"
but I see it has been changed. no harm done I suppose. it's just hard to see such a likeness without thinking of some sort of foul play.
Cool pic tho Death Dealer=) I love dragons. you need to make sure the text is readable tho. some of it goes over the fire and makes it impossible to see. |

kanabis: well its the same style yes, but i ment that he drew his and didnt just cut and paste craig's into his pic. i really dont see it as that big of a deal. its just a fucking castle.
EDIT: well it looks like it has been changed now anyway.

As much as I admire Mullins' works, and can see similarities, I think this one is a dead cow.
Maybe DeathDealer was inspired by one of his pics, maybe not. But even if he was, that is simply what has happened through all of (art) history.
I'm sure we'd have a lot of (dead) painters be upset at Mullins, Manley, and others, for ripping off or emulating their color schemes or ways of slapping paint on a canvas - if they were to follow this example. |

well probably the subject is really cool but realization is 'weak'. Big problem with perspective AND colors. I know bg colors looks ok, but that dragon doesn't 'fit' them. Draw a perspective grid first, match the objects - second. Colors have to match too.

Ehhh sorry I disagree with you Leo. Sometimes a skewed perspective can help to translate chaos. It seems to me in this pic that he wants that sense of ( the world being turned upside down ). As far as the foreground colors of the Dragon ,well its not finished if you could'nt tell, and if the foreground is cool compared to the back ground is serves as a good contrast helping to focus the eye to the object, like the dragon. Hold your hand in front of a bright light sometime. You will notice the dark side is quite a bit diffrent, though the edges glow with light. |

It's fun watching this progress.... I like the castle now, with the roof blowing off, as though in an explosion.
Love the little Surgeon General's warning, too. I got a laugh out of that. |

oh, sorry i meant a grid.
this is very helpful for layouting magazines and when your handling with text.
i would like to show you a picture of it, but at the moment, the server is out of order,.... later |
