Apparently this started off as a portrait of Tom Cruise. After i finished the outline of the head though i scrapped the reference because making the portrait exactly the same as the reference got really tedious. anyways, i'm not sure if it still looks like Tom Cruise anymore but there it is. Comments and crits are welcome. This is the second digital piece of art that i have ever 'finished'.

Chron,

The attention to detail in the hair strands and 5'o clock shadow are really nice, however that attention seems to get lost in other places such as wrinkles in the skin (forehead and under/around eyes), shirt, etc.. Also, skintone seems a bit red-ish in color.

To answer your doubts, in my opinion I see a little Cruise in the eyes and mouth area.

For your 2nd pic, I think it's pretty good. Keep up the good work.

Looks great for your second piece.. keep messing around and you will get even better. For my first time I wish mine turned out that good.

thx a lot for the input. the face wasn't supposed to be deep red like that. for some reason it looked perfectly fine in photoshop but when i loaded it up into internet explorer the colours got all screwed up. is anyone else having the same problem? plus, i personally think that the picture lacks a bit of depth... could someone tell me what i could do it improve it a bit in this aspect?

Maybe have it point down more...

Do you have a reference pic?
Or was it a live one?
