Damn... I was thinking you might have been out there. I talked to James Rochelle for awhile. I was hoping some of the other Presto guys would make their way around also. Next year we'll have a bigger booth with name plates. |

Did someone mention my name? Oh! Hey Chapel! The piece is great! But I already told you that! Sorry I didn't organize a meeting of the minds from Presto too well, but everybody was doin' their own thang' It was good talkin' to you gents, and I'm sure the book and Image will continue to do well. I'll try to be on the list more often since I'll be in sunny Florida.(I know, I know...sharks, old people, west nile virus, humidity) I should have a little more time in the coming months to produce more artwork...Yaaayyy!! But your progress is awesome, you make me want to work harder!!
P.S. Don't listen to Natec and Synj...they're crazy(no I mean it, it's scary...) Theresa is bonkers too. Creepy.

That truly is wondeful coloring....that's one style I'm always impressed with..but the ability to do it has passed me buy ...One day maybe..
Do you just use selections and gradients mainly ?..

You wish.. where your going all you get is old people and humidity. Sharks and the west nile virus would break up the monotony. hehehe
I'm sure we will run into each other again. We are probably going to travel in the same circles for a little while. Hope everything works out for you even though I'm against the place.
kaylon: I only use gradients on the large areas like backgrounds and such. The rest is selections and airbrush. |

Good grief, Chapel, when you make a come back, you do it with style. Love this stuff.
The headlights on the car strike me as being especially cool.
My only crit is that I'd love to see a little more variation in the colours making up each character's hair. Specifically the girl and the guy with the sideburns. They look a bit to uniform.
But other than that... wow. Welcome back. =) |

chapel - I don't know... Are you encouraged to put in the whole lot of colors of the spectrum? Why not make it abit more monocrome? This looks like candy. I'm just thinking out loud here and I hope you don't mind. Please understand that I think techinally this is as good as you get it, but the colorchoises are lacking. I can understand that you don't want to be a liquid 'clone' but still - this looks like 90% of the stuff on the market... How much freedom do you have when you start on a page/poster???

I actually have a lot of freedom. Keep in mind that this is most likely the first cover of a brand new series. It needs to be eye catching.. however the cover we will most likely use has a very restricted palette. I'll post it when we put it on the site. All the covers are going to look different in some way or another.. most likely through the colors. Here is a different example.. this is page 2 and 3.

It's amazing that the colouring matches the incredible pencils and inks, a real pro job. Well Done! |

thanks Boom
Like I said before I change the palette up alot, so if you don't like something you see now you might like something else later on. We plan on publishing in France and maybe Japan and Hong Kong further down the road. So I'm trying to do colors that will appeal to a WIDE audience. But we are promoting in the states first and that is why we have the eye candy poster. |
