Good work sista!
Hang in there, don't let kids who "learned" to critique artwork from some on line pokymon fan art forum get ya down.
Keep up the good work.
Take it easy,

Simuartist: Please, dear, again - you're getting worked up over nothing.
That was NOT a reply to you, as much as it was a reply to some other people who had claimed, in previous posts in this thread, that someone didn't have the right to critisise on work unless they had better abilities. I do not agree. I don't see what you are getting so upset over, really - nor getting so rude about.
Again, I HAVE NOT CLAIMED THAT I AM BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE. I have never claimed I'm a better artist than you. I don't really care how good you are with your art. I do claim, for the umpteenth time, that I did not agree with your edit and that it is my right to disagree with it. You're really looking for insults where there are none. I know that there are myriads of artists on this board that are very much better than me. I don't mind this at all. I don't have problems with my ego.
And as far as this discussion is concerned, it is now below me because you are resorting to nothing but personal insults and bad language. I'm really not interested. |

simu...
How old are you? Yes post some of your work. Until then, we don't know how good you are IF you are any good.
2nd of all...the way you are acting is VERY IMMATURE, unprofessional in every aspect. And until you prove any worth or knowlegde of YOUR skills, just drop it already. You are acting like an egotistical flaming prick. And yes this piece of hers IS in fact very good. So far you have NOT shown ANYTHING that proves otherwise. You think you are giving her constructive criticism when in fact you haven't done much but harass her with your opinionated babble. Whoopie you work as a conceptual artist. That does not make YOU any type of GOD in the art world. Until we see some of your work, quit trying to cut her down. You talk the talk (which is BS mainly LOL), lets see if you can walk the walk.
Until then...grow up or shut up already! Sick & tired of seeing idiots like you all over the net cutdown other peoples work thinking you are so much better or know everything.

u know, why do I get the strangest feeling simuartist is the return of that idiot mongoose, a.k.a. humanclay, a.k.a. the milkman...?
The same ego and attitude, attacking people just to gain a rep. I really doubt that someone totally new would come into the forum looking to fight like that. Even some of the line's hes using is all too familiar...
Maybe I'm way off, but just a feeling I get, and I'm usually pretty good with these things. Let's all keep an eye on him
and I saw the edit too, it wasn't an improvement. It was bug eyed, bordering on toxic avenger bug eyed... which is bad.

I also thought that the face was skewed slightly, but not so much as to be really distracting.
No need for folks to get pissy about the crits, even if they're a bit rude. Even a snotty crit can be valuable when taken with a grain of salt. |

Maybe the eye is off maybe it isn't, I don't really know, but that is not significant in this picture anyway. Technically perfect pictures with flawless anatomy can be boring or meaningless, and in such case I don't even consider them as art anymore. But in this picture the expression on her face fits perfectly to your description of her, which is an achievement I respect and which makes this picture a piece of art. I also like the unordinary size of the canvas. Oh, and she is pretty too. |

Well, anyway... I think we should just let this thread drop now. As I've said, countless of times, I don't really think it's that good a picture anyway.
And LordArioch... It wasn't really the crit I got a bit peeved at... but the fact that when I told him that I did not agree, he started to insult me and become really rude. That, I have a little problem with.
So, let the picture drop. It REALLY doesn't deserve 72 replies. Really. Please. |

Nice pic, love the pale complexion. I also dig the work you've done with the reflections on her...erm...forehead thingy .
Hey Mr. Big Crit with a Stick up his Ripped Cli..eh.. just hushup, before the whole forum starts "lauphing" at you. Art is subjective, namsayin'? Chill.

For Gods' sake people... just let the topic drop already.
It's been off the page once, and almost off the page a thousand times.
The picture is SO not worth this amount of comments.
And Mr. Newt... *shakes head* Grow up. Get a life. Get out of my thread.
(And for your information... mentioned twice that I've been sick - because I felt a need to explain why I hadn't put more time into the picture. And of all the crits I received, there was ONE I didn't agree with. ONE. And what I did not agree with wasn't so much the crit, as it was the overpaint. I'm really getting tired of this discussion now.)

Very sweet piece.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I must be blind, but all 3 of those faces look pretty much the same to me. I think the idea behind the drawing matters more than the technical skill. why is everyting about proportion and lighting etc etc? hehe like I'm one to talk because I crit about stuff like that too but just bah nevermind I'm gonna go work on my comic now! >_< I like this painting the way it is. It has mood to it and that's rare to come by, even with stuff that painted in perfect proportion etc, if the pic's boring, it's boring. whatever me go now -_-;; |

I am sorry, but this is the best thing I have seen in a while. I don't even know why I like it so much, but I think she is PERFECT! By the way, that guy should learn some manners and the proper way to treat a lady. Gosh, what an old man statement, and I'm only 18! Well, kudos for the AWSOME drawing.

it saddens me to see ppl crit others with such childish attitude. we all come to show are stuff here, for better or worse, to see other ppl's opinion that will help us improve our products, not to insult our ego. and if ppl can't give or take crit well than please, try to say as less as possible to keep us, the other readers of this (mostly great) forums, not disgusted from the approach of others. please keep the hostility out of the threads and control yourselves to help the enviromant here pleasent.
about the pic - i think that it's great. the lil flaws in here face can be accepted as she is not the most perfect lady which i think contrebutes to the character of the figure. i love it. |

Holy crap, what a mess this thread is. And I am a jackass for adding to it, oh well. This is the exact reason I haven't posted on here in a while. I had actually generally always gotten really good responses to my art and it's not that which upsets me, it's the attitude of a lot of people on here. I don't know if it's out of frustration over an inferiority complex or just plain immaturity or malice, but some people have a need to, if they see a good piece of art, look for flaws and downplay it's value and quality, I assume, to make themselves feel better about their work. While Enayla's kind of work is remote from my points of interest I do enjoy her work very much and always spend time looking at it, as it is romantic, sad, pretty, and beautifully rendered with a lot of love and care (or so I take the liberty to assume). On top of it all she has, to my knowledge, always been polite and realistic with her opinions about other's and her own art. Even in this thread she stayed calm and civil even she was being under attack. I do not know her and base this exclusively on the writings in this forum.
We are always the worst judges of our own work, and for someone with her skill, I am sure Enayla is aware of more "imperfections" with this piece than I can see. I think it is a beautiful piece over all and fits the description perfectly. I could go into some critique but honestly don't feel I could suggest anything that she (the artist) is not aware of already.
I was too late to see the overpaint but think that it's a rude thing to do without artists permission. Kinda like taking someone's poem and rewriting it, or a song, or any other form of art.
As I stated above, I had been feeling reluctant to participate in a forum full of negativity and hostility as this forum seems to be at times. I do still come around to see some of the great art that can be found on here.
Sorry for the length of this. |
