that's right, it's my ongoing quest to get my stuff colored. i just finished this and i'm actually really proud of it. it's all photoshop from "sketch" to "ink". i'm sorry for the big file size... it's all that stupid smoke cloud's fault. and of course i only deal in png files anymore. they're just so much better than the others.

i'm also looking for a good caption for this. i was thinking "did you really have to call him a ratbastard?" was a bit much. anyone have any other ideas?

anyways. if you like this and you wanna color it, i also uploaded the psd file. you can get that here. just right click and save as. so... yeah...

i'm always open to comments and criticisms.

I like this. You draw very good back ground.
Of couse, the characters are very good too. Not many people care about vackground now.
I really like to color it, but I use CorelDraw and dont know a lot about photoshop. And if some one want to color it, isn't the line too thick for coloring?

Oh, MAN, this is good--I really wish I had some time to colour it. You've got some great variation of line type and width--I particularly like the combination of sketchy and strong lines you've got going on the right-hand figure. This is a most expressive piece.

One small critique--I agree that you need that smoke cloud (or something) there to provide a dark background and make the figures pop out. However, I think that part of the image needs some more work. It looks very unpolished compared to the rest of the image--I can see the shape of the 'brush' in some places. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing--but it doesn't fit at all in this picture.

yeah, ummm... i SUCK at backgrounds. if this looks even halfway decent, then i consider it an unqualified success. if you go to my site (not a plug, just an anecdote) you will notice that if i even have a background at all it is always minimal and/or crappy. i tried to put a little extra time into this one, but i just generally feel uncomfortable drawing backgrounds. ah well.

I downdloaded the PSD file and tried to color it. Now I find I like it much more than the first time I saw it.
It's the kind of drawings you wanna see again and again and still very interseting.
Give me lots of imagination. It seemed I can see some thing that is not painted in the picture.
hamilton, you should really color it by yourself and go on like this. Really impressive.

... snogging?

... to have snogged?

... to snog?

... to be caught snogging....

what are it mean? strangeness abounds in my thread.

Great piece. I really like the boldness of the lines and the movement of the two characters. Personally I wouldn't consider using bold lines on distant objects but it works very well and looks good too.

Very cool piece very dynamic.
As far as a title, how about:

"TAG"

hmm, heck I'll color it, or at least try to.

I was thinking something along the lines of "that's the last time I let you dump that much tabasco sauce on your five-alarm Texas chili!"

Or not... o.0 Damn Hamdig your art is so much fun to color. =) (grumble- wish my art was fun to color...-mumble) I downloaded the PSD but after waiting 45 mins on my slow connection I found out it wasn't compatible with my version of photoshop. =p Blegh, I'm used to coloring line art that's all on the same layer anyways.

Grr, someone beat me to coloring, too. Ah well.

Impressive! I love yours skyediver. Now if only you could pay this much attention to your own art we could all be that much happier. Hamilton is overjoyed, and so am I to get this little glimpse of your stuff. Where's your homepage at again?

skyediver, you really did a very good job--really vivid.
The only critique I have is that if you use some brighter colors on the characters , make more contrast against the backgroup, mayebe it will look more dynamic.
I also hope to see hamilton's own colored piece.

Think so, ebrian? (shrug) I dunno, I'm not crazy about using ultra-bright colors on my people (so why on backgrounds? I dunno...), it just looks... odd to me. When I color I imagine the colors I use are the colors I'd see if I was actually there. Mind you, a bit brighter than in real life, but I didn't say actually being there meant real life... c.c I doubt I'm making any sense. What I mean to say is, if I was actually there and these two dudes were both running away from some bright light source (the explosion), they would appear quite dark from your point of view. Or at least, I assume this. o.0

And Isric, what do you mean by that remark? (eyes you) If you mean I should color my stuff more, forget it! My art's not nearly as much fun to color as Hamilton's. My stuff is so stationery compared to his. And in case you've forgotten, my site is now linked in my signature. (points)

Yes skyediver, surely it looks real. I understand what you mean.
My personal opinion is when I see your colored piece, my eyes focus on the smoke, not the charactor.
So...as a painting, if we want to let others pay more attention to the charactor, may be we should deliberately make them more bright or colorful, that is--visually more heroic^o^
Just my own preference. Maybe too old fashioned.

Hehe, the explosion is my favorite part of the picture. =) I had to experiment to get the result I was looking for, namely just screwing around with layer options, heh... I'm very proud of that explosion. Don't mess with the explosion, man!

some things the "dude", the "dude" on the left i mean; could be saying:

"dude, wheres my car?"

"dude"

"dude! Run!"

"where's my car dude?"

"Run dude!!"

"DUDE!!!"

"are we there yet?"

"stop following me dude!"

"dude that chick was so hot"

"where'd ya leave 'mini dude' dude?

"dude, how did you have time to roll up that sleeping bag?"

im in favour of the first one.

hey. thanks so much you guys for coloring my picture. i'm so excited. YAY!

fafnir. i noticed all the little improvements over your first version. i like it alot. but perhaps the bag on the one character's hip shouldn't have been green... to offset it from the grass.

callao. i really like your color scheme. the red sky is so ominous... but it looks a little unfinished. especially in areas like the right character's hand. but i really like how the city looks like it's made of clay or sand. really cool.

skyediver. i hate to play favorites... but yours is exactly as i envisioned it. really cool. but we could have done without that glow in the right character's crotch. :P

i liked them all. thank you so much.
