Salutations. My name is Albert, and I'm new to this forum. Well, actually, I've been coming here for awhile now, but I guess you could say that this is my first official post, with my first official art work.
Not that you need to know, but just a little background about me before you critique me to hell (which I do insist you do; it'll benefit me more to receive constructive criticism than pats on the back). I'm 16, and I've only been doing any sort of true drawing art for only 2 months, so cope with me here. My anatomy skills have yet to be developed, so please point out any awkward proportions or any of that kind of stuff. Hopefully you'll view my first digital piece as something mediocre. All critiques and comments are welcome. =)
And alas, giving credit where credit's due:
- Character concept by John "Xcruiser" LaGaipa
- Reference picture by Natalie Hijazi; Head reference picture by Alex Jaeger and ILM staffer Marriane Heath

hey there albert, im new to this forum also and im also 16, just started out on the whole digital art thingy to.
my most and yet unfinished work:
http://204.225.71.133/~ben/Alien.jpg
now about your pic, the head could really do with being slightly bigger and also the mouth needs to be more curved it looks slightly buckled in the middle.
im not sure what youve done with the arms especially the right arm.
one last thing is the foot, it needs to be pointing slightly more towards you.
apart from that its a great start. |

It's hard to tell what you've done because so much of the drawing is obscured by the way you colored it. Tone down the glowy stuff and the special effects. If it's a good drawing it doesn't need all the fancy coloring, just let the drawing speak for itself. |

Arc]i[Pello, thanks for the advice on the head, mouth, and feet. I'll work on it.
Fat Assasin, does the lighting really make it look all-that obscure? Here's the piece before my final lighting:
At this point, I just felt that everything was too light. I wanted to go for a darker atmosphere, and the glowing orange parts seemed to give it a more eerie mood, and it also seemed to accomodate for the darkness surrounding him and the rain. |
