Olay, me posting again. Posted this for Ian Jones since he wondered why I didn't post more Hi Ian! This was done with a graphics pad in Adobe Photoshop. The photo I used for reference was also taken by me. The model's name is Dana Dark. This piece was done using the various faux brush tools in the back ground to get the stone effect.

Great work Natasha. Love the 'sunny day' lighting.

(That girl looks familiar to me???)

Hey there.

I'm Ian Jones

Natasha, its me... I go by the name Collosimo at Sijun, and Deviantart, err.. and Subspace.

The thing that still impresses me most about this pic is the values. The Values are outstanding, even in the direct sunlight there are some subtle values, and as for the indirectly lit areas, well they also have some beautiful values. Very skillfully applied, and that is exactly what makes the hands and feet look so realistic! (you have done a really great job there.)

The folds and cloth are great too. I'm not exactly sure about the cast shadows underneath the cloth, they look too uniform. Too simple, I reckon that they need to get slightly darker closer to the base of the cloth, not much, just very slightly. Other than that maybe you could blur the edges just a touch. Do you get what I mean? they just look a little uniform and calculated. OF course I am being incredibly picky...

I said I would though.

Is that a wooden door to her right? It must be painted then, because there seems to be no grain at all.

I'm a little confused about the perspective of the step to her right, compared with the bit of the building below her left elbow. Maybe it was like that, it obviously doesn't converge at the smae point. My geuss is that because you painted everything so accurately everywhere else, then you must have got that right too.

Is that the models real hair? it is incredibly black, and well Gothic... cool.

I don't know what else to say, and anyway I gtg to dinner.

Nice job.

Damn that is very beautiful. Mmm..., I love that girl... The soft look of the skin on the legs is awesome, the hands and feet are superb. Very nice, extremelly sexy yet tasteful pin-up.

Lots of great stuff on your site. You seem to do a lot of fun stuff.

mmm... true, I should of made some of the shadows darker but I felt I would loose some of the detail if I did. Her hair is not quite as dark in real life; And not as... smooth? But everything else she is just as pretty. The steps... She's in front of a tomb, so the steps are not really steps. I too thought about changing the lighting a bit, as a photo the lighting looked fine, as a drawing, it seems the lighting gives a false direction? shrugs. I can't work on the image anymore as the origional was lost last week in a hard drive crash

mmm... So much for constructive comments. The only person who said anything real constructive was Ian. Everone else was one liners- good job or hate goths. Like my user name being darkgoth has anything to do with my drawings. I'll give in another try and post my new piece when it's finished. We'll see how it goes than.

Wow, very cool. Couple of questions, I read that it was taken from a photo reference but the actual "painting" did you outline everything in PS or did you do a pencil drawing then scanned it? I like the semi sepia tone to the picture, did you use just brushes or any dodge and burn? Just interested in the technique. My only gripe with this would be the hair strands on the outside, there's just something about them.
Is the picture you took as reference on your site? as for the rest Ian said it, and damn now I am seriously Jealous

Ever thought about making a tutorial?

Everything was done in Photoshop. I sketched an outline of her from the photo ( the photo is on www.gotherotica.com- sorry its a pay site ) Than each "section" was made a seperate layer. I did it all using a graphics pad and airbrushing, the techiques pretty simple. The sepia toning was added when everything was done with a adobe action. No burning was done though I used the faux brushes to add the techture on the skin and the stone.
