aight, ive posted this around and noone likes it .. maybe im not as good or talented or whatever as i pretend to be but i love this so its what im doing.. my image is abstract and you prolly cant see the Eiffel Tower at all, but its there, there is some rhyme and reason in there even tho you prolly wont catch it the first time around, if you dont like it, cool, tell me why.. i love abstract work, but think alot of it is crap cause its too simple, i wanted alot to be going on in my images.. aight im dont rambling, the first image (Eiffel Tower) was just for fun the second (Radio Inspired Head v1) and the third (Radio Inspired Head v2) were for a post card competition my school had, i think some picture of a dragon done with crayon won, i couldve shit out something better.. but heres the images after saying i was going to quit rambling a total of 2 times now.. hope you like em
Thank you. |

i love how you've referred to your own work as "shit", because it's so appropriate. you say that people have said they don't like your work. obviously you've missed their point. when someone tells you they don't like your stuff, this doesn't mean you should show it to someone else expecting a different response. MAKE SOMETHING NEW. cuz obviously you're not doing something right.
these are just random collages. this isn't worth my time to review. but i'm gonna. cuz that's what i do. :P
that first one you completely RUINED by putting in the little triangle with people in it. not only does it scream "I'm bored and just wanna add in more stuff... look at how childish i can draw" but it also takes the focus away from the middle. you didn't balance it with anything on the other side. if you WANTED to bring the focus to it then i don't know why, because as i commented before, it screams "look how poorly i can draw when i don't care".
the other two are just as muddled. just random shit thrown in. the middle one has no heat scheme. with warm and cool colors disgustingly intermingled and those wretched black and white lines on the bottom. make some choices. otherwise... shit, you might as well just be throwing paint at a canvas randomly. that's not art. who was the guy that did that? i can't remember... but even he thought about his stuff before he started. he had a definite purpose in mind before he started. you obviously don't. try sculpting kid, cuz collages aren't your thing. |

Take some time to learn some techniques and so on. I dont mean to sound harsh... But yeh.. You need to work on things more.. These urls arent to put you down or anything,
But these people have put time and effort and knowladge into these sites.. And its taken them a while to get there.. So just sit down.. Learn the program ur using.. and so on..
Talent takes practise.. And time.. And effort.. If you cant try and achieve the highest point you can then dont bother.
Cheers, |

You don't have to think that much when you're creating abstract art. Throw everything away except two things: "what am I thinking right now" and "what looks good". Personally, I can't do abstract art on computer, paint brush feels right for me. It takes time until you could develop your taste of the use of color and technique, so practice more and read some books. And even if your artwork never won any contests or get any praises doesn't mean they're bad.
I kind of like the second one, nice setup and colors. |

you know.. it saddens me that you drop the consensus down to this... are you saying that EVERYONE should see artwork as EVERYONE else? ... are you saying you're the higher source on what is good and what is shit? ... maybe ones shit is ones gold to the other... don't be an asshole and ridicule something.. you can't label art as "shit" .. he says he likes doing it.. this is typically not my style... but if he says its what he loves to do.. then hey... more power to him... he should dow hat he wants... you cant label ART on how it is good and how it is bad... how does ONES choice make that "good" or "bad" ... it doesn't .. its personal opinion .. and you'll never be able to label art... another persons eye could see this as beautiful ... blah.. anyway... i've been an artist all my life.. i stopped posting my work here for this reason... and another one.. nobody ever critiqued my work.. i'm sick of having to feel like i'm an art GOD just to get a response... and i feel thats not what this forum is about.. its about all the great artists that post here and everyone swooning over them... why not help the other guys out sometimes, even if they're new... as an artist and doing this for a living... there is way too many judgmental people out there to put bold opinions on ones work... sounds like i'm ranting and raving... thats not my intention... i'm just sick and tired of people doing this shit. |

look. i always put plenty of constructive criticism in my posts. but i feel that him poorly criticizing someone else's work opened him up to my fury.
i am honest. i'm not sorry that offends people. but i always try to be helpful amidst my honesty. i won't apologizing for speaking my mind. i never said i was good. i really despise when people say that, when i never mention my art at all when i'm criticizing someone. i never said i was good. i just said i didn't think that this was very good. and after all. that's only my opinion. maybe some of you are too pansy scared to speak your mind. but i'm not. |

Just to clear something up, Pollock was actually fairly skilled as an objective painter. His early work includes recognizable figures and shapes . . . the drip paintings came later, as an exploration of a concept.
Personally, I feel that Pollock's work demonstrates a very deliberate energy.
As for the pieces in this thread, I would say that they show a lack of experience in digital media. I can see where brushes and filters were used in obvious ways, with their default settings. I don't mind the second piece, though even it seems a little unguided. I would recommend starting with objectivism and then moving to abstraction . . . good minimalism is a subtractive process, and not an additive one. Take a composition and decide what doesn't need to be there . . . half of music is the space between the notes. |

Uh, I actually liked them. Certainly better than most layer/composit stuff I've seen. Maybe its their size. I dunno. Given the colours I probably wouldn't like to see them too much bigger than that
But there's evidence of thought, composition etc. Sure there a lot of old stunts like faux perspective etc. It's alright though. The last two particularly (first one isn't bad either but I'm generally put off by blown-out whites like that)
Good content for those free postcards by the door at trendy cafes and such. |
