The first one I did a while ago and the second one is cut out of construction paper so it got a little lopsided while cutting the paper with an x-acto knife.

Joachim: That rocks! I love the way you describe form so well, and that identifiably Joachim style. I can't pinpoint why its your stlye but it is easy to tell you did it.

Painted Melody: Hey thats cool, good experimentation with colours. Great form, and rendering.

Ysg: Do we need 3d glasses? Thats cool.

Steven Stahlberg: Cool, you know what that looks like a similar kind of style to Dhabih's portrait. It's got that transparent effect from all the brush strokes. Great work there.

Swami: err.. she has green hair at the back, perhaps..? Pretty cool paintings.

Faustgfx: Nice to see you being so positive as usual.. hehe (it's all about sarcasm..). You kinda look like your from some sorta boy band.

So much to say about all these. I'm sure Joachim will love them...

Very awesome Joachim, you made me want to try it myself Didn't get a very good result I think though.. Yours is shiny, and full of life.. mine looks like a desperate attempt of a dude who wants to try and draw something

I was drawing it.. and about halfway through, I was wondering what the hell was wrong.. Then it clicked and I added white shadows on my face, because light is coming from directly over my head, thus hitting my keyboard, wacom bad, t-shirt, etc.. and bouncing right in my face! Makes more sense now.

Oh and I started it, drawing, dum-dee-dum, when all of a sudden my dog had babies! That stopped me for about 1.5 hours

hey guys, I'm so happy to see that so many have joined in. And, a lot of nice portraits !

YSG, nice. I've never tried cutting things out like that. how about doing one from mirror and posting it here ?

painted melody, looks really good ! I like the colors a lot. Nice that you've varied colors around eyes, etc...you look sick
maybe you could work a bit on the shape of the nose, but then again, might be intentional.

steven, nice that you joined in too!! your portrait looks very precise and correctly drawn. also, the values look very nice. Only comment from me would be maybe to define a few areas a bit more, and maybe improvise/enhanse colors to create a bit more drama into it.

krom, sad you didn't have more time to finish it. It's a bit hard to comment on it as it is. But, atleast since you've started shade areas, without getting everything down roughly, that something you shoudl consider next time. Then it's easier to see the values and get a more consistent finish look.

above, you're picture won't show.

axo, eh, hehe. how about grabbing a mirror and give it another try...? you won't regret it.

swami, I like that portrait a lot. nice proportions. crits would be the colors, that the skintones seems a bit muddy, as you go darker with the same tones or more grey. vary and look more careful to which color tones you see.

faust, I like that one a lot. As you said, you've posted it before, i think I said that then too :-) . How about giving it a new try, with a mirror ?

snakegrunger, nice to see you joining in as well ! -and it looks like you, which is very good. What I miss is a bit more subtle color variation in the skin tones. Also, make clearer and define things more. example, the nostrils blends with the rest, more subtle contrasts and edges. Also, the eyes kid of miss what is around that makes them fit more into your face..care do to another one ? -you are improving rapidly !

balistic, it looks good ! but as what I mentioned to snakegr, you should define areas more and make clearer edges between the different elements. maybe the portrait is a bit too saturated, but that might be what you were going ?

micke, me likes a lot !

-people are welcomed to crit mine as well, I need it just as much

oh yeah, here's another one. Anyone up for taking a mirror, still draw what you see but exaggerate/improvise things....It's a very nice way to loosen up, and make something differnt of what you see.

Some very neato self portraits here!

Might aswell throw mine in... did it a month or two ago. It's a bit dodgey, especially around the eyes. Now that I think about it, it was the last pic I did prior to finally getting my mits on Photoshop.

There was some pretty funky light in my livingroom this afternoon... unfortunately, my brother dropped by to borrow the computer, and when he had left... the light had changed =/ After that, I was too lazy to pick it up again.

So, it's a veeeeery quick portrait =P

Joachim - Alright, I tried to put a few of your suggestions into action Here's another try:

You, Steven and Micke are making Sijun all worth while I drew this while listening to some Ranma1/2 soundtrack and theme songs.. Hrmmmm not very good therapy! "Akane no inazuke!" -- "Omee kawaikuneen da yo!"

Heh...here's my go, I like doing this, but getting a likeness to the mirror gets really frustrating. I like the nose though.
