here's some interesting stuff on the subject
'brave people against corrupt bastards' =)
http://www.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=39656&group=webcast
it would be interesting to hear if someone
else is as tired as I am (or, even more).
this is not solely directed to the
'news'-stations making up news. it's also
directed to all media types who participate
in making the countrys inhabitants believe
that 'all is well'.
some would probably claim that ignorance
is bliss but how can we survive if we live
in a made up reality?
think about it for a while,
why does some 'news' make the headlines but
other events semingly greater in importance
don't get mentioned at all?
why the sudden outbreak of war movies/
tv-series at certain times. is it only to
manipulate the audience into feeling
supportive of a soon to be war somewhere
in the world or is there really a need for
making more slanted versions of what war is?
think about 'every' thing you see, hear or
read. why are you getting that specific
information? be it news, tv, radio or movies.
*sigh* oki, it's tiresome to often feel that
you are being served something only to
manipulate you into thinking and feeling
one way or the other. though, if no one is
caring about the world and the life on it
it will soon be another deserted ball in
space.
ohh, I have tried for some time to be able
to post on cnn news's bbs but not being allowed
(getting the error: password is not correct)
even after getting a new password
from the staff. well, it's ok. I already
kinda knew that freedom of speech is reserved
for a select few who are not going to make
people think for themself.
*scuttling away to find some yummy food*

Take my advice: become despondent.
Despondency is when you know life sucks but you no longer have the will to try and change it. It's beyond anger, it's beyond depression, it's beyond care.
I went through years of rage at the state of the world around me. It's a world that I can't understand, nor want to. I spent my teens trying to ignore the fact thet we are all rotten to the core, greedy, selfish, stupid, small minded and base. I wanted to tear down governments, destroy society, change the fucking world for the better.
Then one day I woke up and realised that wasn't going to happen. It was an epiphany. I thought "The world is shit, just accept it, go with it." I can't tell you how liberating that was.
Now I care about just one thing: my life.
And everything else can go to hell.

hehe,
that's exactly what some people would love
the rest of us to be like. disillusioned,
tired, sad, not caring, and being dang
easy to put down if the voice should happen
to raise concerns over stuff that might
put corrupt people into the light.
no worries bud, you're invited to a giant
forum hug!! =D

Well, I live in a country where everyone in power bangs you in the ass, over and over again. The oil companies secretly conspire to raise the cost on gas every month. each liter costs around 1$ now. Our economy has been going down hill because the government in rule lives in blissful ignorance that "nothing" is wrong.
Society is crappy, and will continue to be so unless people try to make it better. It's impossible to think, that " I am only one lousy bastard that can't change shit, why bother?" If one person thinks like that others will to. It takes only one man to destroy an empire and one man to build it. (wow, this is corny, but sometimes true. Dismiss as rubbish if you want to.)
People are crappy, they try to ruin you for their own good. But who is it to blame? Parents, enviroment. A good person can be raised as long as the enviroment and parents wants to. |

The world is crap and we can't stop the downward spiral. The only way to change anything would be a revolution, but the majority of people on earth are stupid and complacent. So, I vote for being a hermit who lives in the mountains ![](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

IT'S ALL A PROPAGANDA MACHINE, MAN. IT'S PART OF HUGE CONSIPRACY INVOLVING JEFFREY DARBER (HEAD OF THE CIA IN 1964; HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR KENNEDY'S DEATH), SPACE SHUTTLES, EARTHQUAKES, JOSEPH SMITH (FOUNDER OF THE MORMON MOVEMENT), TELETUBBIES AND POOR MEDIA COVERAGE. THEY INTEND TO COOPERATE WITH THE MAJESTIC 12 AND THE ILLUMINATI SO THAT THEY CAN COVER UP THE MASSIVE UFO INCIDENT OF 1954, WHERE THE HYBRID INVASION BEGAN!!! THEY WILL CONTINUE TO BRAINWASH WORLD CITIZENS WITH SUB-LIMBIC BRAIN MESSAGING BEAMED DIRECTLY THROUGH OUR EAR CANAL AND INTO OUR BRAIN!!! JUST LISTEN TO ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S GETTYSBURG ADDRESS BACKWARDS!!! IT CLEARLY OUTLINES THE PLANS FOR A TOTAL GREY REPLACEMENT FACTOR IN EVERY MAJOR OIL COMPANY IN EXISTENCE TODAY!!! HERE'S A SAMPLE OF WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT:
"(funre) WE ARE (tuppin gol matma) SAINT SATAN (mequap) PUT OUTERMEN (florp yurkad ruof) OIL BUSINESS IN (rewaf erocs oga) TWENTY O ONE!!! (furea mon fooka)"
IF THAT'S NOT PROOF ENOUGH, GO HERE FOR ALL THE EVIDENCE YOU NEED!!! I WOULD BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY IN THIS THREAD! BIG BROTHER IS PROBABLY MONITORING IT RIGHT NOW WITH DEEP BLUE III!!! THE VERY COMPUTER THAT BEAT THE RUSSIAN CHESS CHAMPION ALSO MONITORS ALL OF OUR PHONE CONVERSATIONS, TAKING OUT KEY WORDS AND PHRASES AND COMPILING A GARGANTUAN DATABASE WITH ALL OF OUR NAMES AND POTENTIAL THREAT FACTOR. IT ALSO SCANS THE ENTIRE INTERNET, LOOKING FOR CONSPIRACY THEORISTS LIKE THE VERY SMART starfish, WHO KNOWS THE MEDIA LIES.
On a side note, you do know that you don't have to hit enter every time you hit the right side of this text box, right?
Bishop_Six: I assume you've actually met the majority of all 6 billion people on Earth, given them a standard Hurschonian Complacency test and the average IQ test, then remembered everybody's individual results and thus made it possible for you to make such a statement that defames more than half of a species, right?
Svanur: What secret conspiracy? Everybody knows the oil companies are trying to make a profit after the overflow of oil 2 years ago (80 cents a gallon). It's no secret conspiracy; crude is running low and so are profits.
Jock: You're Buddhist?

Impaler: thnx for letting us in on the big
secrets ;D
and yes, I know I don't have to press enter
every time I hit the side of the text box.
the reason I do that is that text is much
easier to read when the reader doesn't have
to turn the head when reading =) |

i hear you man heh, i wrote this for my profile in AIM:
My life is just a shame,
Its been wasted for so long, that
even I cannot see the end, cannot
help the pleading voices
Everythings gone bad to the extent that
there is no end to eternal suffering
The submissive voices around me lead to
an immediate breakdown of my life
For all like me, there is no end
totally agree with you |

disney, news corp, general electric, and viacom owns most of the news media.
you have these large corperations merging together creating one giant monopoly. rupert murdoch owns news corp which is the parent company of fox news. rupert also owns a PR company whos clients include monsanto (they produce the synthetic hormone BGH). its not hard to see why fox news didnt air the story. conflict of interests run high in any multi-corperate media entity.
rupert is a right-wing fundamentalist, who often supports the christian moral majority. and on many times he has stated that this corperate empire reflects his own political and moral beliefes. so it is no wonder that news corp donated around a million dallors to bushs' campain in this last election. fox news is anything but fair and balanced, its more like a bad joke that takes awhile to understand.
"Monopolies are a terrible thing - unless you have one" -rupert murdoch |

Man, A.Buttle, why you gotta put the hate on ME?
As if Fox News doesn't cover something, then NBC news will, and if NBC and Fox both do not cover something, (the odds of that are highly unlikely), ABC will cover it, and if all THREE don't cover it (again, even more unlikely), then CBS will cover it. If all FOUR network news programs don't cover it, then PBS will definitely cover it. If ALL FIVE don't cover it, then CNN will cover it, and if CNN and ABC and NBC and FOX and CBS and PBS missed it, then BBC will get it. If SEVEN news carriers miss it (counting about 6 different news spots per network, not counting local, that leads to 42 news programs, lest i remind you), then C-SPAN will cover it. If C-SPAN misses it, then.. .blah blah blah. I'm not even counting the internet, either.
To say that we as people are complacent and are too stupid to watch more than one TV station for our worldly information is an insult of the worst degree to all of humanity, including yourself. |

Yo Impaler,
you seem to be a master of slanting what
people say to make them look stupid. =D
the main concern in this thread is about
news stations 'creating' news.
when I grew up I learned that news stations
had reporters that was 'reporting' what
happened in the world. but I guess that it's
a matter of growing up and finding out that
the illusions one have as an innocent kid
isn't allways how things are.
and, if the reason you worry about this
thread is that you work for a news company,
no worries, I don't think any of us are
gonna pull forward the tar and feathers
and go after you.
this is more of checking that people still
are able to feel that there are things
in the world that's not alright.
*hands Impaler some yummy pistachio icecream* |

Impaler:
I'd suggest if you are willing to watch 10 different TV News shows every day then you are the stupid one, not the people complaining about them. |

starfish: You missed my point. A station can fabricate whatever story it wants, but the next station won't even mention that story, since it's made up. It's up to stations as businesses to compete with the other stations and get the best and most replete coverage possible. Stories may be made up, but who cares? I have nine other stations saying otherwise. I think people can also spot out fake stories, if we can write and devote whole articles and periodicals to pointing them out, so it's a moot point anyways.
Wait. Slant speak? I'm making you or I look stupid? You lost me on that one.
Jock: I'm stupid because I'm informed? The logic behind that one was frickin' astounding. |

Nah, you miss-understoood me. I don't think you are stupid because I don't imagine for a second that you actually watch 10 news shows every day, but if you did then, yes, that would make you a fool.
News shows aren't about the truth, they all have an agenda. You just choose to look at that fact slightly differently to me. I simply don't pay them much heed (although thankfully the BBC seems to be the best broadcaster when it comes to unbiased reporting anyway), wheras you hold this rancid practice up as some kind of capitalist virtue.
You are a true American, your country must be very proud
