This is my boyfriend's rat, Twitch. I drew it as a present for his 26th birthday, which is next month.

I already commented on Epilogue, but what the heck, the more the merrier, right?

I always think it's kind of funny how a picture can look so different on various websites... (Well, not funny haha, just... interesting. Except when it's my picture. Then, it's just annoying.) The murkey sea blue background here doesn't work at all for this picture, and on faustgfx's board, it almost gets lost in the overall brown rusty look. It looks it's best on the clean black background of Epilogue, I think.

Oh, I really love all the detail you crammed into the middle, by the way... I meant to tell you that when you showed me the bigger version. It's much harder to appreciate at this web-friendly size, which is a shame.

The only problems I see are that it's kind of confusing around the area where the rat joins with the chain. I can't really make out what's going on there. Also, I think maybe the type could use some spicing up. It looks a little bland. Other that that, this pic is amazing.

dumb Q. I know but how'd you make the "cardboard" background texture?

Vesuvius--Don't worry--it's not a dumb question. The background texture is a scan of the nappy old piece of rug that sits on my bathroom floor and keeps people from slipping on the tiles when they get out of the shower.

Tinusch--You're probably right about the font--I have over 30,000 fonts in various places, and I use Times New Roman? Come ON, me! Heh.... I know it's hard to make out some things in this picture--the original resolution is MUCH bigger, so some things are lost. The 'chain' is actually a pair of handcuffs, and the rat is holding onto the top of them and being swung around as the cuff rotates. I'd post a detail, but I'm trying to keep the traffic on my site to reasonable levels. Same goes for all the twisted metal in the middle--it's really hard to see at this size, but until I find some other place to post my pictures, I don't want to put up too many details.

I think it's great. You get better with each piece you do.

the centrepiece reminds me of the 'mechanical bird' piece you have. I like how he's dangling from the pendulum and you can't see his terrified little face how old is he? he looks very acrobatic.

absolutely beautiful.
