McCracken: That's one wrinkly dress!
I'd try darkening the skin (to a black/cold blue tone) and make here a drow elf, as that's what the background remins me of.

Hoepfully you know Ad&D well enough to know what I'm talking about.

Collaborative effort by Makotierra and myself. (I did the linework, he did the coloring.)

Noctali & Ken.... great stuff! Salty Dog..

OH MY GOD

Dryfire... fine start, but there's nothing to it that really says, "Elf!" to me. Maybe zoom out a bit, and give it the proper ears. Also, try to experiment with your brushes to get a less messy feel. Smooth line transitions are key in good illustration. Keep pluggin!

Hahah!! I exceeded the maximum number of images per post! Ok... I'm gonna break this in two...
I've done a few elves in my day. Hope this doesn't get too crowded. Sorry, if it does.

[edit] Oops... I just realized that I posted an image that is not an elf... the girl on the branch. Lemme know if you think I should remove her, as she doesn't really fit the theme.[/edit]

... continued below ...

Feeb..... as to your girl on the branch..she has pointy ears does she not? Welp...an elf she be. Not to mention her elven buttcheeks. Scrumptious! heheh.

I need to get out more.

Everyones stuff is great. Saltydog, I gotta ask you, whats the basic coloring meathod here. Were the lines done digitally, in a layer above the coloring. I donno how to keep my black lines small and clean like that when they're scanned, I'm guessing thats tablet work. Either way, yours is amazing. Could you share the basic process?

Cicinimo... to be quite honest, the coloring is a bit of a secret to me as well.

I did the line drawing by hand and scanned it at 300 dpi. I then cleaned it up a tad (not as tight as I usually get it) and gave it to Makotierra. From there it's vague. Mako, I believe, does colors for some of the Battlechasers comics, amongst other things. If his technique follows suit with other colorists, he puts the linework on multiply and paints layers underneath it, utilizing the lasso tool to make all the highlights (which are badass!!)
But..as I say, that's all speculation!
I had fun drawing it, I'll tell you that!

Just to show you...here's an earlier version (without the rock wall I put in later) of the linework...pre-clean up

Geez feebsaint! I have that issue of DRAGON with the elf characters. Those are great! Hey, how do I get ahold of those Dragon folks anyway?

Everyone else's stuff is so cool! Here's my feeble attempt.

It is a paint-over I did as a commission for some friends of their D&D characters. I had it printed poster sized for them. Sorry for the large size, this was the only one I still have online.

I remember elves are all I used to draw. Scary. They were awful, too.. with these huge eyes and ears *shudder*

The first one's an ink drawing from two years back. second is a christmas drawing for a friend for last christmas, third one was done this year.. a dark elf.. mmyeah.

Here's something I scribbled a while back as an experiment in Painter Classic.

Nice elf Pat! There's a couple of things I noticed right off

Feebsaint: I've been to your site before, I remember those elves, but where I can't recall...

I've seen Ken's elf before on an Elfwood tour of, surprise, elves.

Just finished this. His hair sucks because I'd spent too long on the ponytail and then I didn't want to do the fringe, just to piss him off. Yes, he can be pissed off. Salvatore's Zaknafein, mercifully dead and unavailable for further books. Unlike his poor son. Damn.

There's a bigger picture up on Drizztism, with bluer eyes. I figure some Salvatore fan's going to come whump me over the head some time soon.

jeshanon... go back to your image tag, and take out the ".html" part. That will make the image work.

I did that, and the image came up, when I copied the address from the properties (by right clicking) and pasting it in the address bar.
