Hello to everyone!
I'm new to this board and fairly new to digital art. I am hoping to go to college within the next few years, finances permitting so that I can get some formal education in art.
I have learned a great deal over the past few months by trial and error and Enayla's tutorials (*grin* Thanks, Enayla).
This is a portrait of my son as an elf. I photographed him with my digital camera and used the photo as a reference for the initial sketch and painting. This was done in Adobe. If anyone can offer advice or comments, I would be grateful.
*waves to everyone*
Take care, y'all. |

that's breathtaking.. i really dig it
well, maybe the contrast is a bit low, but on the other hand, that makes the face smoother, and that's what you wanted, i guess.. great work ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

That is very nice. Great job on the mouth (lips look very real) and the left eye. I would look at the perspective of the right eye (viewers left) it appears a bit flat. The jawline seems a bit too long and it makes the ear seem too far back on the head. And the ear seems unfinished compared to the rest of the pic. Please don't take these comments harshly, this picture is done very well as it is, I just think that it is very close to being great that is why I point those things out.
Good work, post more... |

Hey and welcome to the forum!
I was meaning to offer you some crits on the picture on your elfwood page - and I will (later, though). It's an awesome image, it really is. You're improving with leaps and bounds! |

Adigra pretty much took the words right out of my mouth. Very nice as a whole.

Hi and thanks to everyone for their comments! I thought that perhaps I should post the reference photo? I don't know if that would help in critiquing...
adigra, thank you for the advice... the right eye does look flat *grin* As for the jawline, I'm not sure and the ear does need a more finished look. I'll get to work!
Here's the reference photo of mah boy:
Again, thanks a million! |

Hi again!
I took the given advice and rounded his right(viewer's left)eye, finished his ear a bit more, softened the jawline's length and upped the contrast a smidgen...
Is this better perhaps?
Thanks again for the advice and comments, everyone!
