Great stuff i like all of it , i have 1 suggestion for the site, instead of loading a new page everytime someone wants to see an image in your gallery, make it so when you mouseover the small "preview" images on the side, it will just load the large size image in the layer, and then just keep all the loaded images pre-cached. I think it will turn out much better and will keep things more organized.

hey Gavin,
The site isn't working for me, I use netscape Communicator and sometimes it won't load and when it manages to some of the links are cut of and dead. I never did see your work. Be careful and make sure your site works across different platforms.

It's just netscape, dammit. Okay, I'll have to make a very basic netscape version alongside, I really don't know why it wont work, it's using layers with the netscape bug fix in the java. Awwww I hate splash screens.

Thanks for telling me!!

There are a few subtleties that need changing ::

1) You should probably be a bit more professional and make no mention of all-nighters, and leave out the smiley faces :)

2) The shortened "Trad-Art" and "Digi-Art" are more used by l33t hax0rs than people serious about getting a job, just for the record.

3) You might want to separate your 3D work / Print work, and show everything at once, instead of having a "more button". I know that you shouldnt' show everything at once in a real flip-book portfolio, but online that's how it should be. There are different rules for an online portfolio.

4) You have a good number of pieces, so that's good. You might have a bit too much illustration in there, more than anything else, which would tell your future employer that you'd rather be an illustrator more than anything else, thus they'll stick you in the illustration department and you'll be getting paid considerably less. Just make sure you have more of what you'd rather do, 3D, design, or illustration.

5) Site layout is a bit quirky and low contrast...I didn't notice the "more" button until much later on.

Anyway, I think you've done well with this but I would just fix up those small little things, just to make it a bit more professional.

Keep up the good work,

Thanks for the comments,

hmm maybe I should start it again, maybe you should take into consideration that this is my first ever website, so i know it's quirky but I dont have the technical web development knowledge to do it properly.

1) you're dead right, I'll take out the similies.

2) I wont change the titles didi-art, trad-art because the whole site is based around thos buttons i.e. no frames. but I take your point for future reference.

3) Okay I'll do that for the next update. Ill make more specialised sections for it, but the 'more' button stays.

4) Im gonna put 2 new 3D projects there in a couple of weeks. But again, I agree.

Well...thankyou so much, I dont know if I'm not told!!

nah, if you want Netscape to really work, you have to work with tables.. and be very precise. It's such a touchy browser :/
Otherwise, just put a "warning netscape will experience MASSIVE heartattack" on your intro page :) Hey, you're selling illustrations, not web programmings.

Excellent portfolio btw !

Yeah I know-cant seem to make it work in Netscape. PLEASE, does anyone know how I can make a dreamweaver layers page work in Netscape?? Is there a download/extra bug fix?? please, I really don't want tp have to build it again just for Netscape.

Hey Gavin Greaves: Nice job. I really like the way you made the transparency in the first Image of the mouse. Good work, nice portfolio. Hope to see more of your good work.

Hey Gavin cool site, great work.
Just to reiterate some previous comments

I believe that what was meant for that was to re-write the wording on the images, so as oppossed to saying "Trad-Art" spell it out and say Traditional Art. Shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Oh for cool tips and trouble shooting problems go to
Webmonkey great site for anything web related. Oh and stay away from frames they'll cause you more hassle than they are worth, that's my opinion though.
Last little thing, yeah try to put all thumbnails in one page. The trick is to give the users as much information in as little clicks as possible.
Great work.

I'm using the newest version of the Mozilla-based Netscape (4.77) and your layers definitely don't work. Try coding the layers from scratch, as Dreamweaver and GoLive add a lot of redundent code that can screw up the browsers. You shouldn't have to use Java, as HTML 4 includes layers IIRC.

As it was, I was not able to see your portfolio.
