Hey, long time now picture post from me. But I've been active nonetheless. This didn't take long. But I like it. Please give me crits. Especially about anatomy and forms.
Thanks

[edit]: forgot the image tags... I guess it's been too long

I would ove to see this after it was cleaned up some more and detail added. I dont understand the beard though and the shape you have given it. Its like its a big block with hair laying on top

I like the drawing, the forms are accurate. I think anatomy is correct too, and the pose is appealing.

About colours, I think you've mixed tertiary colors (such as pale brown, colours next to grey) with some high saturated colors, as the red of his clothes and the brown on his boots, and they don't mix together very well imo.

I like it, the sketch is very appealing. The coloring is also quite good I think.

No the most useful critique here from me, but we wont let that slip on to page 2 so soon

I agree with the others about the sketch. It is very solid... line weight, etc.

There is a definite problem, though. His head is in a poor relationship with the rest of his body... particularly the shoulders. It's set too far back and towards us... so much that if you took off his clothes (don't), his head would be growing out of his left trap.

It appears that with his raised shoulders, you are trying for a bit of the stockiness, no-neck dwarf,' thing. If you were to have your shoulders that high up, your beard would be half way down your stomach. See where I'm going? If you don't get me, I'd be happy to illustrate my point. Just gimme the say-so.

Again... solid piece, overall. Hope I was helpful.

First, I'd listen to Mike May cause he kicks ass.

As for me, the arms are a little to long compared to the legs. and his general body wieght looks a little to far foward.

Otherwise nice.

Thank you all for your time!

melted petal:Thanks. The beard is supposed to look cropped. I didn't want to hide too much of the body with it. Since it was the anatomy I was after. If you haven't got the slightest idea what I'm talking: the dwarf of Severance:Blade Of Darkness has a very cropped beard as well. He wears it in two tufts tho.

Ragnar: Thanks My first colouring job in Painter. But it seems likeI have a composition problem here, eh? I will try to change that next time.

gLitterbug: Thanks a lot

Feebsaint: Thanks a lot, Mike. I understand most parts of what you try to say. Not the beard thing tho and that his head is too far to his left shoulder. Although I agree with it looking too far back. I'd love to see you illustrate it. But for my defence. I equipped him with different sized shoulder plates that was too much for my skill I guess.

still wrong?

GreenPeach: Thanks for the comments. This is a very crippled dwarf, eh? I agree with your points. I'll try to make it better next time. Oh, and I know Mr.Mike Paintchat May.

schon etwas alt, aber was solls

Die Vorzeichnung war ein Block. Aus diesem Block hab ich dann die grobe Form "ausgeschnitten".
Vielleicht kannst Du damit was anfangen

Sind noch n paar andere Sachen auf der WebSite, falls es dich intressieren sollte...

First, grey or white background is bad, mmkaaay.. use pure black, dark grey or throw in some moody colours. Second, the colours are _almost_ good, only small changes and it will look much better (I recommend searching some reference pics . Third, the head is too high and it makes him look (painy, fat and weak)old guy and not a strong dwarf. More shading to the head and take away that awful cube beard =)

I did an overpaint to show you what I mean:

Great job, Timo!

Ok, S4Sb.... here is my fix. Sory to desecrate your drawing like this, but here he is naked and after I've put a proper melon placement on him. I tried just moving your head around, scaling it, etc... but it just didn't fit comfortably with the body. I decided to draw a new one.

I also redid the hand and arm on the axe side, since it felt a bit awkward to me, also. Do you see what I meant about his head seeming to grow from his traps? All I did was erase the clothing, and bring the neck down in a natural descent from that angle of the body.

Hope this helps:

mk: Great work on your site. You are actually the first german speaking guy that can draw!

But your webspace is even slower than mine.

Bg: Thanks a lot. Took notes in my mind. Veeery nice picture. Great colours as always.

Feebsaint: hehehe I almost shit my pants when I saw this. And I understand what you mean. Thank you VERY much for the advise.

And I will never ever again do such a beard. Promised!

Thank you all for your time

Thanks Mike. I like yours better 'cause it looks 100% dwarf, the beard is really cool and the angry expression is great.

Thanks Stephan.

Hahah.. thanks, guys...

I had to poke my head back in here to see if my fix had been noticed, and I surprised myself, and laughed at it... I kinda did the drawing fast, and did the joke 'axes,' and somehow I had forgotten! I'm pleased that you dug it, S4Sb... and I agree with S4Sb... great colors! ...Also, thanks for the kudos on the beard.

I'm going to email myself this page, so I can keep coming back... we should do some dwarf theme on a thread, or something else... I have an idea for a PaintChat theme, too... but I'm not gonna reveal it until I can get back in there!

Ok... I'll catch you guys later.
