Well, I've been working on this one for a few weeks now and its finally done. This is my first real full-on digital painting, and i've never really done anything like this before. I would really like to hear what you guys think of this picture, because I put a lot of work into this. Don't be afraid to hurt my feelings if you don't like it, I'd just like to hear some feedback from you guys.

[edit]I just wanted to mention that not only is this my first digital painting, its also really my first color piece. I usually avoide colors, because they are really hard, but since i got my wacom i've been trying to put more color and emotion into my work. I'm 16 years old, and i've only really taken highschool drawing classes, so i am in desperate need of direction and advice when it comes to color and compostion. thanks so everyone who replies[/edit]

Well here it is:

and heres detail:

Pretty cool. You have done a great job of it. First full-digi painting.. Nice work.

I like the two headed 'thing', thats cool. I also like the way the mushroom sort of has roots.. very funny.

Overall the colours are a little too saturated.. To balance the picture a bit more, I strongly suggest you desaturate the sky.. not completely just so that a small hint of its blue colour remains..

That should direct attention back towards the rest of the paintng, rather than the saturated blue competeing with it.

Good work.

hey geoman, how ya doing. This is my first post. I am glad i discovered this forum. Well first off, I am still student of the arts. Anyways, about your first full digital painting, I think the it's good. I agree that the subject matter here is pretty funny. The mushroom is my favorite. There are flaws in this painting, not so much about the composition, in my opinion, but just the technique that needs to be further refine. I haven't reach the professional level at painting yet, but I would say, just on a personal taste, blending of colors ought to be alittle bit cleaner. The smudging is abit messy. I suggest try explore other means of achieving gradations in painting without relying on the smudge tool too much. You, can use a soft airbrush or brush with a low opacity to slowly build up the gradations. Forgive me if you know this already. Hope I didn't talk too much. keep up your art!

Hope you don't mind... I took about 5 minutes and did a few important things... it needed a central point of interest, which, of course, is the twisted creature at the center... I hazed the mountains a bit, gave a little more contrast to the piece, gave a little stronger shadow under the larger clouds... and that's about it. It feels more comfortable to me now, and less flat. Hope it helped.

thanks for the help guys. i really apretiate the adive on colors and such, i'm really in need of it. i'm glad you guys like this pic, because i put a lot of work into it.

Collosimo: Yes, now that I look at it I agree that the sky is too saturated. I wanted a bright mid-day look to it, but now i realize that it distracts from the main center of the painting.

M_Shady: I'm glad you called me on the smudging. I feel like I might have been kinda "cheating" by using the smude brush to get the values that I wanted. But, in my defense, I think that it made the painting have less of a "paint" look, and more of a realism/3d look. next time tho, i'm going to take you're advice and stay off that brush.

feebsaint: thanks for the edited version. I like what you did with the sky and the moutains, i think it really bigs out the main charators. If have time tomorrow, i'll work on incorparating some of those ideas into the painting.

again, thanks for the feedback, and keep it coming.
