Well, it really varies quite a lot, but right now, I am listening to 'La Traviata' as I draw. I am also singing along, much to my boyfriend's dismay. (He has closed the bedroom door to shut out the din!)

It's funny...what I REALLY wanted was to be an opera singer and maybe doodle a few drawings between rehearsals--but I can't sing. I have the voice of a crow, and a vocal range of less than an octave, to boot.

ah yes.. johan gielen _rockar_

i cant stand music with lyrics when it's supposed to be in the background, so i'll pop in trance mostly, sometimes ambient or jazz, or a concerto if i feel like it.

hehe when i listen to sugar cubes or ATR i draw twice as fast and twice as good. on the other hand, i draw like a retarded 4 year old if gay euro trance is being played within earshot. strange how that works...

A lot of U2, but otherwise something fairly peaceful and ambient, but if I hear a good song I'll listen it despite what genre it is. That's why I also dig Front Line Assembly, NIN and stuff like that.

I prefer silence for drawing, but when I listen to music, I listen to:

charlatans
blur
chapetrhouse
slowdive
mojave3
apples in stereo
papas fritas
galaxy500
lyle lovett
cat stevens
cartagens
majestic
air
sean lennon
paul williams
red house painters
the autumns
the arrogants
low
radiohead
the beatles
ivy
the beach boys
high llamas
stereolab
free design
orange peels
magnetic fields
komeda
bread
carol king
weezer
the rentals
fountains of wayne
samiam
sunny day real estate
belle and sebastian
the carpenters
and when i really want to rock out i'll
put on some james taylor!

this is off the subject but i am
currently highly recommending
Betty Edward's book,
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.

Oh man, The perfect topic for me, As I mention on my website, music keeps me occupied with my work. Whenever I get bored or frustrated with my work and a song comes up on my mp3 player that I like, I always say, "alright, I'll keep at it untill the end of this song." Of course another song that I like starts and so on.

Anyway here's the list of what I listen too. To those of you who like the same stuff as me, right on!

Staind, Incubus, Powerman 5000 (to a lesser extent), Bush, Creed, 3 Doors Down, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nickelback, Finger Eleven.

If there are any I forgot, it's because they're just one hit wonders, or it's because they just aren't worth mentioning.
