oh, well, at least I'm doing something again.

Just a doodle but let me know what you think. I tried to apply whatever I may have learned with the mirror portrait from Joachim's thread. The head is intentionally deformed.

I like it. The colors are evocative and the slightly deformed visage works... reminds me of Janne or Sear. You've also simplified the values really well (the strokes used to construct the cheeks are especially effective). Good job, sorry I don't have any useful crits.

Thanks sacrelicious, I'm glad you liked it. I guess it's influenced by Janne and Sear portraits, too bad I can't get those nice colors they use. I'm having fun with it, so I think I'm going to do a couple more .

You know, I feel quite comfortable here alone.

Another one:

Hmmm, have I mentioned that comments are welcome?

I reeally like the third one, I'd love to be able to define facial planes so easily. You'd have to explain me I'm in IRC-Hispano, on #dibujantes channel. Cojonudo, tio.

cool, love the technique there. I also think thats a good way to show others how to do it, by blocking in main areas of clolour, great work.

great stuff! really well rendered.

Only suggestion would be to throw in some more contrast and/or subtle taints of colors--e.g., the teeny dab of blue on the first guy's chin ... something to break up the monochromatic feel a bit.

Hey, I didn't expect so many replies!

Gavin Greaves: thanks! Yeah, work from big areas to detail, took me a while to get it.

stneil777: oh ... tanks!

Justin Kramer: Thanks! I completely agree with you, my pictures always have this awful tendency to look monochromatic and dull, I have to work on that.

sacrelicious: hehe, thanks again!

burnOut: thanks!

Binke: Thanks! I know it's hard to get replies, I thought I looked kinda stupid writing that much on my own thread .

Zenzuke: Gracias! I'll give a try to that channel sometime.

Farwalker: Yeah, the third is the one with more personality .

Zorglub: Thanks! but don't take them too seriously, you could get a lot of wrong ideas.

Dryfire and Resistanz: I'm happy you like them!

These are excellent.I'm going to try and reverse-engineer these in my head and see if I can better understand how to simplify the planes the way you have.

Gimbal8: Thanks! Really, it's nothing especial, get the main form first and then go darkening or lightening with a big brush to get the main features, and that's it (well, and a lot of Ctrl-Z inbetween =).

Ragnarok: Thanks a lot!

Janne: Yes, not enough variety of colors is my biggest problem right now. Thanks for your comment!

Akolyte: I'm glad you like it!

I specially love the two last ones, Grendel.
And well, I love the colours you used. I never can create a palette as nice as the ones you have used.
Buen trabajo!

More replies still?

micke and vividetail: Thanks a lot for your comments!

gordillo: nice to hear from you again, you should post more!

tayete: gracias! I really think my colors are a little bit boring, I'm sure you could pick up a palette more interesting than these ones. =)

Oh, sorry for bringing this back to the top.
