If you haven't seen it yet check it out. Pixar is back, and this time they have monsters, or some such nonsense.

looks promising... I think only Pixar does a desent job at doing cg movies. They focus more on a story not just tech; imo that makes all the difference. Instead doing a movie that's an R&D exercise, other companies should use what they got and do something creative with it... |

Pixar and Disney are seperate entities. Pixar has a five-picture contract (of which they've finished two), but after that, I don't think you'll see any more Pixar films distributed by Disney.*
While PDI's latest (Shrek) is definitely a step up from Antz, I just don't think there's anybody out there who can come close to Pixar's level of talent and craftsmanship. Final Fantasy is looking like drab, sterile mud compared to the vibrance that the lighting and shader guys at Pixar consistently deliver . . . I wish them the best of luck, and respect their dedication, but they should've spent some money on a few solid lighting artists.
Monsters, Inc should rock the house.
* Pixar has actually released 3 movies, Toy Story, A Bug's Life, and Toy Story 2, but Disney found a loophole in their contract that allows them to not count sequels towards Pixar's fulfillment of its five picture obligation. |

That thing is a killing machine!
Made me crack up. Love such jokes.
Im going to watch every computer-animated film as I think they are all well made in terms of rendering and that stuff. If they wouldnt be they wouldnt make it to cinema. Regarding Monster Inc. and Shrek I think both are good movies not only 3d-wise but also storywise and I will enjoy watching them.
At the moment Im loading down masses of short animation-films, as I recently discovered that cgchannel.com has many links to excellent shorts. |
