I like her, the face has a great look to it. However, I would imagine Tolkien's Elves a little closer to humans, but that's your personal drawing, so your personal opninion
Love it, anyway. |

I think perhaps that her nose is too large and the eyes rather too far apart. Aside from that I think it is rather good. |

Elessil> Ah, the eternal debate :) I wanted her human but not too much, hence the weird eyes, each one in a corner :)
Molyb> yeah, cf upstair :p.. I don't want her to look like a supermodel, she's not. She's weird, she's not human, she's eons old.. and yeah, I admit, I have a soft spot for "flat" noses :)
thanks both of you for the input ! |

You have a light touch that works so well. Usually, I have to literaly draw everything out to feel like the picture is finished. That's why I've never tried to do a comic, which I think about sometimes. You seem to contruct convincing images very efficiently. |

Green> That's something I tend to try and develop with time.. I'm not succeeding yet but I'd like to get rid of the line work. Not 100% but I feel that most of the time we draw then we colour. I'd like to build directly with colours. Maybe I'm torturing me head with that :) because I don't have a art background of anykind so I guess I'm to find my own ways thru a lot of trials and errors :/ I so admire your apparently "easy way" with sketches... |

That's not a highly digital question but well, we'll talk further about this in private if you wish :) Let's say the figurines are 180 mm and basically carved in plaster around an armature. I sometimes use Milliput or Duro/Greenstuff for details.. but I so love plaster :) Got any sculptures of yours online ? |

I see your point regarding the *other worldly* features you have used. I suppose that with Tolkien characters, we have little/no reference material from Tolkien himself (besides descriptions in the book) on which to base any interpretations of looks. Anything presented will be largely imaginative, and in this respect I think you hve done a sterling job. Good work |

Well if shes an elf, then her nose wouldn't be so big. Elves have fine features, slim and anglular lines. I like the softeness, thats cool. |

There are no written rules that define the facial characteristics of a fictional entity. It is open to interpretation. I am beginning to appreciate the style that SoMK has chosen. |

Well, I like the image a lot, really, but not as Galadriel herself. I think she looks too "selvatic" and well, there's a lot of reference material about Tolkien's world in his own books. And well, the characters I've seen that are closer to Tolkien's descriptions are Angus Mc'Bride's (he does even collect references from the book, stating the page, in his sketches) take a look at some drawings in Cabed en Aras, Angus Mc Bride Gallery
Very nice painting, though, what's the medium used? |

Zenzuke> I perfectly knew that by posting a pict based on Tolkien, there's always the risk of hearing "yes but..no" because we all see different things thru the books and frankly, I don't mind at all.
I, by far, prefer the works of Alan Lee to everything else. You seem to prefer McBride's.. We sure could find a lot of people thinking in a totally different way :) This is just my Galadriel, that's all. And I'll make my figurines based on these sketches :) because I'm basically lazy by nature, ah !
Thanks for the compliment !
And it's photoshop. |

This isn't quite how I pictured Galadriel, but still a fantastic effort all the same. For some reason I've always pictured her as a slightly more delicate creature. But hey, what I see as one thing others see as something completely different.. so KUDOS to you, this is really something special. |

I think it looks GREAT. Remember her role in the Silmarillion: she was the one who demanded the attack to return the jewels. She was nobody to mess with, and besides she looks great for her age. |
