Did it ever occur to you that maybe I intended it to look like this? This is art here. I think some of you have lost your understanding for it.

I figured I'd post this because I am happy with it, I like how it came out....but Im so stupid, I should have known better than to post on SIJUN, because whats the use? I'd just get run through the ground anyway even when I request to not have any critisism.

Every last one of you make me physically sick. You are no better than the next person, your style is just different. Do you think I care AT ALL about her forehead? or your comments about the lips? Come on... the whole point about this place isn't to get a critique or be told how to change your work, especially if someone asked everyone not to crit his work. BUT -Optical, that's no reason for you to go acting like an ass - sorry. You weren't even very polite in your first post when asking not to be critiqued, that's why everyone did it. You say that you don't care about everyone's comments and that you don't care about the critiques, well your post proved that to be obviously false. If you didn't care, you wouldn't have made such a big deal of it. Try being a little more polite in your next post (if there is one) and you might get a better response... although I think you've probably screwed it up for yourself now. I'm not trying to flame here, I'm trying to be honest with you and give you an explanation for why you've received these replies.

There have been plenty of posts on this forum where someone has posted and said, "I'm not going to change this so I'm not really looking for critiques, thanks " and the other artists have respected their wishes. Maybe one of two people post a small crit, but that's what happens when you make your art publicly accesible. Not everyone will like it, there will ALWAYS be suggestions no matter how much you might like it and there will always be someone to run it into the ground. That's just part of being an artist. I have a feeling your going to keep jumping from place to place forever in search of something that doesn't exist if you're looking for a world where all your get is praise.

Personally I'd like to see you try again. It looks like you've got some talent.

Alright. I will begin to state my mind here. Opticalshock, also know as Shane R., is a good friend of mine, and he knows I post here. Over and over again, I post things I've found sheer pride in making, to post them only for them to be ripped apart and me to fall hopeless. All the crits make me, as a new painter, feel as though I've made a thousand errors, and it's entirely unfair.

He came here and ASKED you not to crit, because he knew you'd tear it apart. He spent a lot of time trying to make something finished, digitally, which is KNOW he did, and yet you all have to go so far as to TELL HIM he stole some other guys sig? I didn't even know a "Shane" existed in this digital painting community, I honestly didn't. I just looked him up, and your right, the sigs are amazingly close to eachother, but how does that give you any room to sit here and intentionally TELL him what you see wrong? He spent 2 days on this, and I watched the progression all the way through..

dont you REALIZE that we are new? All he asked was that you not rip it apart with personal opinions, and you went 10x past that and told him he EMBOSSED his hair? This is wrong. I thought you guys were better then this, that you could see art for what it is, NOT PERFECTION -- but the work as seen through the artist's eyes. That doesn't require assuming he has an ego, because HE WAS PROUD of what he did -- all that means is you've now reminded him that he's new, and not as good as maybe Loki, or En, or all of them -- but if you gave these new artist's time, you would notice they improve.

It's also like this -- I can understand that you may see something being odd in an image, but REMEMBER -- you are all artists with your own visions of things and how they work, and you may see something HE did wrong that is wrong only to your eyes -- if he likes it that way, why should that make the image less valuable to US as a whole community?

All these pushing away is leading to losing a new group of digital painters and artists. I have concidered not posting, because i feel my work is too weak for you eyes-- and this now proves that all you want to do is tell people what to change.

Thank you Frost (and Jez!!), for what you said, because it is true. If he wishes you not to crit, then he's allowed to his wish. He posted for opinions, because he was proud, and now he's not anymore. So next time your rude to someone not as good as you because of experiance, please think for a minute before you tell them the 50 things you find wrong with their work. If they want critz, they will ask you for them.

Otherwise, keep on trucking,
and stop assuming
before you you all make Dhab's board a elite place where people dont feel like they can have fun.

it is kind of a weird situation. i used to feel like that in college n highschool. i wouldnt let anyone tell me shit about my stuff. all "everythings the way it should be, otherwise why would i make it that way, idjit" on the other hand, it must be said that generally people here are very helpfull and it is not thier intention to discourage young artists or rip apart thier art. and i agree that he shouldnt be critiqued if requested. *ahem* "Post and view finished artwork here. This always happens huh? Well let me put it this way...

Why in the world did you specifically ask for no crits? The majority of the posts here don't even get critiqued, even if the beg for it... asking for no crits simply opens you up for a big beating. That's like going to a restraunt and telling the waiter that you don't want the plate.

But on the contrary, under the description of the finished gallery, is this:

But, why did you come and check your post again if you requested no crits? And even replied?

You see... I think you need to be a bit more patient and accept others views. Don't listen to the stuff you don't like... or maybe even listen to it all and it may make you a better artist....

And on a side note.... style is usually established after the basics are down..

For example, if spooge feng, etc. would have critiqued your work.. would you have ranted and swore at these respected artists? Obviously no, because they are trying to help you.

Same goes for the rest of the community, even though the comments may be a bit crude.....we're all trying to help each other (the majority of us.. ) so just relax and enjoy.

Whoa, if you did not want anyone to critique your work, why did you post it here in the first place? I understand your position, but critique involves praise and nitpicking, and if you cannot handle it, then you should not be posting it in a gallery of finished work. And if you did not want critiques, why did you bother scrolling down to read them all? That's like walking into a Used Car lot and telling them you don't want to buy a car: you know they will still nag you about buying one. Common logic reigns supreme here my friend.
