I agree with sock. I like the background darkness of the final, but the really bright contrasty lighting of the second is cooler. I think if you kept the background and unlit objects dark, but made the beam of incoming light very strong, this pic would really look good. |

ok here is the finished piece
Here are some step shots of when it was in progress in case anyone finds a problem and can tell me if I made it early in the process.
Also to see the progress pics larger I have a post in WIP section.
thanks |

interesting pic, looks good, but i think with a little bit
more 'dramatic' lightning it would look even better
the contrast in the 2nd in-progress-pics looks for example very good! although the darkness in your finished one looks better, hehe, so maybe you can find a compromise of this two pics )
edit: some more comments

anymore comments? or does everyone like the last version. I think it turned out pretty good, but I may try to recreate the shadow of the guy maybe make it a little cleare.
Anyway, thanks for the comments and suggestions. |

this is nice, but at first I had trouble seeing what it actually was, and when I saw your sketch there was a huge difference. with your B/W sketch I could directly tell what was going on in the picture, but with your colored versions there are lots of details lost which makes the shapes less defined and harder to interpret, at least imo. so personally I'd prefer an as lit up colored version as your sketch, with more details and color variation.
keep it up,

i agree with almost all of the above comments also.. but i think that you should get rid of the above light source, leave its effects on the guy but just leave the image of it out.. aight that my 1 1/2 cents.. |
