This is the second post I promised you guys seeing that I've been away for so long... *stretches* ahhhh...it's GOOD to be back!
Been waiting a LONG time to post this for you guys, but it's finally printed, so I'm allowed to post on the web! YAY! It's from a corporate annual report that I had the pleasure to illustrate from cover to cover. This pic is for the Retail Group of that company and is actually displayed in a full spread. One of the first I was ever able to do completely realistically. There is NO PHOTOGRAPHY here. That's all Photoshop, baby!!!! ;}
Whatchu tink?

very nice picture.
/me especially likes the bottle and the flower.
perhaps the lower part of the water could need some more details .?.

Beautiful work Merekat! Very nice indeed, the bottle is excellently rendered. My only crit is with regard to backlighting. I think that there are places where the light intensity on some surfaces is strong enough to have an impact on some of the nearby shadows. Great to have you posting here again. |

Nice to see you back.
I really like the amount of detail present, especially on the bottle and the flower.
My only problem is that I can't really tell what everything is sitting in, it looks like a copper bucket to me. Not sure. |

It doesn't read like its perfectly realistic for some reason, probably to do with how you really tried to bring out the colour, but who cares. Looks fuggin great!
Hammer and screwdriver are the faves. |

Oh, Axl: I KNEW I was going to forget the little teeth marks!! DANGIT. ;} ...that's not a copper bucket. it's for the retail department...it's a paper bag. how sad is that?? no teeth on the paper bag! *hangs head in shame*

The water is not correct, it needs to refract (distort) what's behind it.

I still get chills when I see that screwdriver, Mere. I swear it's coming through the screen to get me.
[whoops I thought balistic's post was on May 23... not March. eep. sorry for the unintentional bump]

It's looking good, but far from being photorealistic I'm afraid. Good work. |

looks cool. maybe Im being stupid, but why not just take a photo of all those things and use that as a spread, I mean whats the purpose of having those rather dull items together and achieving that level of photorealism by painting it instead of just take a photo?
good job nonetheless, just seemed slightly pointless (except for the cash it would bring it perhaps) doing it.
