I noticed an Orc frenzy around during the last few days. I guess the new Warcraft III trailer is the reason for that. Whatever, I want to collect the fruits of your work in this neat thread. Orcs filled my sketchbook for the last week. Here's one of mine. More to come. Do em whatever you like. But they got to be mean.

Sap... I believe the request was for orcs. I've seen some of the posters do stuff that has nothing to do with 'em; this is just an orc thread that's all

Nothing wrong with individual takes on what an orc should be...
I'm pretty sure orcs/ogres/goblins existed long before Blizzard started making money of them. (btw I have nothing against Blizzard; they make fine games; some of which I'm a big fan of).

Sap: That was unneccesary.. nobody's gonna love you for it. If you don't want to see Orc's.. then don't come to this thread.. it's a pretty simple theory that even an Orc would understand.

Nice work everyone... I like these themed threads, it shows a variety of different styles, approaches and is an interesting outlet that helps to create a sense of community.

Yeah, I am not sure about Goblins or Ogres but I believe that the one who came up with Orcs was J.R.R. Tolkien.

Hey, thats a nice drawing.. something cool about the lack of shading, and if any, the minimal tonal range.. its interesting.. it seems that you haven't done any broad rendered areas... mainly just near the edges..

Im not working for Blizzard...but I am working on a fantasy CRPG....and Orc's a big part of it heheh...

You don't have to work for Blizzard or any other company to enjoy illustrating Orc's or any other Fantasy based creature. If you dont wish to contrabute to a thread about Orc's....then just dont contrabute...freedome of choice

This guy's kind of our company mascot. He was designed by Glen Crowell, modeled by Joe Cosman, and textured by myself.

There's lots more of him at the Eggington Productions web site.

The first time i heard of orcs was from JRRTolkien, who made them up as a race of goblins that were actually called orcs in other middle earth languages, such as the one from Hobbiton. so in effect they are the same thing, but ogres however were not a part of that story, eventhough trolls were. i imagine ogres as larger and more troll-like (according to the trolls described by Tolkien). yeah call me a nerd but i dig the imagination... have fun and cool drawings by the way!!!
