I can't decide which background I like more. I did the first one then went back and blurred the other layers to bring the focus more on the mech. The mech is from the game Front Mission.
This is my first all digital piece (other than coloring in PS).

I don't see the difference between the two.

Really cool work though.( That is the first great mech pic I've seen in this forum ) It would be even better if you added more mechs in that one pic

yea id say blur it even more. and/or lose some of the contrast. maybe lighten it as well? im not sure... i remember this from WIP, DAMN its comming along nicely! one thing i just noticed, his right hand gun seems too blue, like in the light, in the shadows. looks cut n paste sort of... 'specially around the end of the barrel... again, very nicely done...

Yes, a very nice one indeed!
But as Roundeye was saying... the gun in his right hand looks too blue..
and add some more redish fog over the burning buildings to the left in the background. That might amplify the impression of distance..

I forgot to thank Magpie (James) for suggesting I blow up the city back when this was just a doodle of a mech. Now I guess its a rough sketch that went horribly wrong.
Roundeye - thanks for the tips. I took out a lot of the secondary lighting on the rifle and changes the colors to match the environment. I added some more blurs but I tried not to go too far.
I added more dust and smoke and I filled in the windows of the front left building. I also changed the clouds. They weren't looking right. I'm debating over whether or not I should add more debris in front of the mech.

All suggestions and comments are welcomed.

(edit)pour spelling

Looks great how it is now .... puts some cracks around its feet (only seems right considering his weight)

[e] Mmm, just reliased that it seems to be sharp above the torso, then begins to get blur towards the bottom of the bot, mabye make that sharp as well so the mech sticks out more ! [/e]

Fantastic, this style blows my mind everytime.

Oh, you should've had the one-way sign point to the mech, not away from it. What you're doing is leading the eye "off the page" in terms of design.

Keep it up, this is amazing.

Oh, that's just fabulous! I love how the foreground and the background are blurred so that it's certain the mech is the focus. excellent job getting it in a sweet lighting, too! Sorry, not much for crits here, just praise this time. ;}

Depth of field of that isn't a big problem.

I think cloud color and shape is bad choice. And mech's material is so soft and clean. It is more good work that some cracks on edge, ruins and more fire flames is added on that.

the changes u made to achieve the last ver (especially the color changes of the gun and building) made this piece almost perfect. no comments. just brellient!

p.s - i think that a wrecked car on the right side of the road to emphesys the size of the robot would make me happier
