on this i was trying to go more for a cel-look which probably didn't work.
... i guess it's more on the "comic color" technique bandwagon.
anyway,

Fantastic, I really like all these pics you're posting, definite style of your own, which is one of the hardest things for an illustrator to find.
My only little bit of advice would be to lighten up the line-width on the smaller details, like on the facemask. Contrasting thin line inside, with thick outlining always comes out better, and doens't look muddy when you finally colour your drawing.
Keep it up, its good stuff. |

hehe background texture is the same (technique) on this and the Spider.
It's basically something like:
(in photoshop)
Difference Clouds
copylayer
Find Edges
Invert
Levels tweaks
Set to like multiply or something over the diff cloud layer,
and a couple more wierd freaky exploratory things on the top.
so basically just wierd photoshop goofiness.

hehe.. y'know.. thanks for the "style of your own" comment, because i'm still looking for it.
I was thinking when i posted that second image "man, this stuff looks NOTHING like a lot of the awesome stuff that's getting posted here", so i feel a little better now.
Line weight is definately an issue on the Hawk... i drew that like 2+ years ago, and half-colored it. Then came back finished it up (mostly wings and background, and stuff) like a year later.
So i'm thinking i inked the thing with one medium sharpie like a moron.
I'm really hoping this list is going to get me off my ass and start cranking out some stuff (as if i'm not doing 17 other things simultaneously).
thanks again,
