Violence has become a real problem with today's world. Don't get me wrong - I love a good movie and all but the real world violence has become to much. It's awful that a kid has to go to school and worry if he's going to make it home alive. There is a website you can visit and it allows you to show your support for this cause. Please don't just kick this to the curb.

well.. in germany the situation isn't that extreme right now.. there are really few murders yet.. unfortunately the rate will grow with the time, that's for sure..

but some "lighter" violence is already present.. was beaten up enough by freaky baldheaded supernazis ,)
well.. maybe it's because of that:

btw, that clear site you have is religious based. not that that is bad, but we can't stop violence with religion behind it, we have to stop violence for the better of our species (for ourselves) not for anything else.

Corey, you're just another victim of the damn media. Research have showned that violence rates went down alot in school, Columbine was an exception. The medias tried to make it like it was the most horrible tragic of the century.

Well think about it. Columbine had so much media coverage that the two shooters were turned into TV stars. All the media accomplished by glorifying the whole incident is show all the fucked up kids that this is the best way to get attention. So what happens next? A whole bunch of other school shootings. Now it's happened so much that people aren't interested anymore. Now we have to wait and see what the next big attention grabber is. It's sickening.

You can't stop violence, it's always been a part of us, and it’s a part of life, predator and prey. Even microorganisms are capable of violence. Humans have the advantage of self-awareness, abstract thought, ect. We can use these tools to recognize our instinctual violent impulses and repress them for the benefit of our fellow human beings.

My thoughts anyway.

There were like, 15,636 handgun-related deaths in one year alone in the United States, as of last year.

I love the United States. The only country that came close to our lovely USA is England, with 106.

If Ian weren't off on some wild Summer Fun Trip of Happy Singapore FUN!!, I'd get him to quote some of Singapore's super-stiff laws, as well as it's super-low crime rates (some of the lowest in the world, if I remember correctly).

If you want to be free and have true liberty, then contend with violent to your fullest wishes. If you truly want to live your life, then violence is a part of that.

If you want totalitarian control, and oppressive rule, but you want to be completely safe, then sit down and obey.

Is it worth it to live your life with a constant danger or to never truly live, but be in a sheltered, safe place.

And if you disagree with me, I'll fucking kill your ass with my bared teeth and muscular bassist hands. (Ironic sarcasm, by the way)

Impaler -- Ever look at how many stabbing, beating, and strangling deaths there are in Britain? ;P -- Not only that, but we have gargantuanly more people living in the USA, than in Britain...

Last, but not least -- It's not 15,000. It's closer to 9,000. :P

In the U.S., violent crime is actually down from where it was twenty years ago. The reasons things look so bad is often because of increased media coverage.
