okay, dont be too mean, because i spent a lot of time on it, and i know my lighting isn't quite right, but i tried really hard. this is from a sketch my boyfriend made a while back, and at the time, i couldn't do it, so I put it off and put it off till we didn't really think about it anymore -- and i decided i would paint it for him, as a surprise. and so I did, and he liked it. I hope you like it too!
comments and stuff appreciated! i like the help, since im trying to slowly improve.
i'll post some other stuff later.

Nice pic, it reminds me of a similar image a girlfriend made me. I would colorise it a bit different, with some blue on the one side of the ribbon, more red on the heart behind them and a bit of a fade where the feet complete the heart, and some nice soft glow around the couple... or maybe not, its up to you!
I would recommend though doing a transparency fade on the way the feet end in the bottom, it's a bit creepy like that right now.
Keep it up! |

Hey there, great image. Nice soft colors. Very good work. You have two areas that could be strenghtened.
1) The yellows in the hair and bodies really jump out at you. They are fighting the romantic atmosphere you are presenting here. Tone them down in the hair and eliminate them completely from the figure work.
2) You put so much effort into coloring this piece, you really deserve to put a little more time into the title you wrote down. Maybe even use a font.
Great stuff. Keep it up.

It's a nice painting Danyi. I sort of feel bad that you had to defend yourself before posting. I've posted my share of evil comments lately, so I feel a little guilty for setting up such a mood.
If I had to comment, I'd just say the bottom part, where it was made to be a heart, seems kind of scary looking, as the material seems to be flesh. I guess a fade to white would have been less aggressive, while keeping the shape of the heart.
I like the soft colors, really helps with the mood!

kos.mandis-- Heh. I might try and add some more colors, but the entire time I spent on it, I was having problems keeping the skin a number of colors without pushing it totally overboard. Tho, adding color to the ribbon i might try later on. Thanks! I got more stuff to post later. (edit: bad keyboard skills)
kaare-- Yeah, the yellow does seem to make a huge impact in a negitive sense. I will clean that up, and try putting a nice font in there. By the time I was finished, I just wanted to show him. It gets hard keeping that sort of secret! Thank you!!
frost-- Honestly, I dont mind when people completely tear apart my work. When they do, I assume they perhaps see that I could do a little bit better -- but i spent a lot of time and care so I didn't want to end up hating it (more) then i do already. Why does everyone think the flesh is scary! Dah well, I'll toy with some fades. I like the soft colors too. Check back later, I'll post an update.
Rats!! (socar =P)-- You really think so? -s- I dont know about the hair, every time i make hair i always make it too visable that is ackward with the rest of my images. Tho, adding some extra colors does sound nice. I'll toy a little with the color contrasts, see if i cant bring out the depth more without totally nulling the 'soft' feeling.
Thanks you all! so much!

Danyi,
Ah, what a lucky guy your boyfriend is! The image may have its technical faults, but it was done with love, so who cares? |

This has really come along since I last saw it! Very nice suggestions of contour in the body, and lovely atmosphere, as well.
I do have a suggestion or two:
1. The hair doesn't need quite so many 'strands' in it--segment it into locks instead, and just pick out a few flowing strands with highlights.
2. The skin would benefit from some blue and green lowlights in the shadowed areas--not enough to actually make the skin green or blue, but enough to deepen the contrast.
3. I think the ribbon could also use some contrast--it's a bit amorphous, still.
Great work, though--you DO get better every time! |
