Here's my latest undertaking...I've included a link to references I used, though I didn't really use any of them extensively. I found it quite challenging to make Zidane more realistically proportioned, because my only references of him were the same style used in the game. Please tell me what you think and anything that might improve this picture. Thanks ^_^

I think the distance from the top of the eyelid to the eyebrow is too large. This is a really important measurement for getting a likeness. Also, men generally have the eyebrow and eye close together, while women have a large separation. The fashionable figure, anyway |

Oopss, one more thing. The eyelid usually covers about 1/3 rd of the pupil. If too much is revealed, you get pop eyed or surprised looks, in which case you need to make the rest of the expression match.
Micke used to reveal *a little* more than customary and it gave his heads a very intense look. It was pretty subtle.
Where is Fred when you need him?
That reminds me, he did a good tut on the eye, general proportions, etc
edit- What you have tried to do here is REALLY hard. I would not like to be given this assignment. You did well considering what you have to work with, IMHO. Ok, I shutup now

I agree, what you are trying to do is extremely hard, except for all of those things Spooge mentioned this piece is not really bad, it's actually quite good, and as a Final Fantasy fan (Specially fan of 9) I think it is very nice and you have done it justice. |

on a normally proportioned human that costume is so gay!
thats a great job on the painting, he has a real suprised look to his face from the things spooge mentioned. the eye being to far open, the distance of the eyebrows, and weird smirk he has lends further to his 'questionable attire'

I know you wanted to make him look realistic but Zidane's supposed to have those catlike eyes. Not a real crit I know, but it wouldn't be him without the eyes. |

Thanks so much for the advice Spooge Demon . I tried to correct the things you pointed out, and here is the result. What do you think?

I'd be nice if I could get at least one opinion on the corrections (please?), before I call it quits for this picture... |
