This is my first post of my work to this list..
This was for my friend Jenny, who has a pet tortoise about hte size of your hand.. She's going to Peace Corps for a couple of years, and her friend Lam is going to be taking care of the tortoise. I randomly decided to draw this... (I did it entirely in Photoshop. In the future, I think I might try to sketch first, scan it in, and "ink" in Photoshop..) Note that the tortoise's comment should be read in a squeaky high-pitched voice like the little kittens and puppies in Babe 2..
I've only just started learning to draw on my own in the past year, on and off, so I know I have a helluva lot to learn. Any pointers would be appreciated. :)
Some self-criticisms:
- The feet are too small.
- She's leaning forward too much.
- Her body doesn't seem to be quite the right shape, though i'm not sure how to fix that.
- In general, I haven't gotten around to learning proper proportions yet.
Full-size TIFF Version
Again, I know I have a lot to learn, so any help you can give me would be appreciated! :)
(Btw.. in case you're interested, the only other real drawing I've ever done was this comic strip for my school paper I did last semester. Some of the jokes are school-specific, but some of them are pretty universal. It's called MIT3K. That was all done with pencil and pen, with a little bit of Photoshop touching up (and coloring, for the one color strip).) |
